Following on from adding red streaks to my hair, I have ordered one red/black funky pair and one conservative pair of reading glasses to my new prescription. I wonder which ones I shall find myself wearing the most!
Any other Gnetters wear snazzy specs?

I think we may need to have a picture shysal!

My last lot were bright red and I've also had purple. This time I've chosen green with one pair round and the other square. I've got short cropped hair and I like to think I look a bit funky!

I have always worn glasses and it is very frustrating that I only have a very limited choice because of my nickel allergy. Even titanium specs have nickel screws and make my eyes weep.

However I do the best I can to find jolly ones - current pair is red.

Mine are sort of goldish frames with pink and brown patterned legs (arms), I never know which. I like jolly coloured specs.

Specs haven't arrived yet, Lara. Will post a photo when I have them.
I would love to see pictures of others' choices.

Purple tortoiseshell with largish lens, they are quite imposing.
Love them.

My current favourite specs are an almost luminous red from Boots a few years ago, they bring lots of comments. Also they help disguise my red rimmed and darkly shadowed eyes caused by eye drops for ocular hypotension. Is there no end to it all? I am on the look out for something else dazzling, but nothing on the high street at the moment.

I thought I'd tone them down next time and have very fine metal frames; I'm always out of step grin

My current glasses are purple iridescent, I've just ordered a new pair following an eye test, I'm going back to frameless titanium with fancy arms.

I just need them to read, and for the PC. Had the eye test, got the glasses, and they were awful, even after they fiddled about with them. Got a refund and have a pair from Sainsbury now, not prescription ones. They are not bad, Purple, but I hate wearing glasses so much that nothing would satisfy me. Now sunglasses, that's a different kettle of Fish, LOVE my Sunglasses.

I just buy cheap reading glasses (15€).
The last pair I bought have tartan frames, and a youngish (50) friend was very impressed, said they were very fashionable shock.
I only bought them because there was no other choice.

Hope - I cannot imagine why you "hate wearing glasses so much." They really are no big deal - I have worn them since I was about 5 - and have DD who wore them since 18 months. They are an opportunity for a fashion statement. My DD looks so lovely in hers - nothing to hate there; none of her friends have a negative attitude to her glasses; nor to mine as far as I know.

I only need glasses to read. I'm glad of that as I hate wearing them. I always feel that I have something stuck up against my face and am conscious of them all the time. l dread the day when I may need them all the time. I always buy the lightest and most unobtrusive ones I can find.

Wear glasses all the time. I go for shape rather than funky colours, as they're on my face all day every day, so don't stint on cost. Present ones are torteshell with a subtle deep cream inset. Go with everything. For seriously long reading, I need reading glasses as well. Torteshell again!

ffinnochio Fri 10-Mar-17 14:21:55

Tortoiseshell!

I have to wear my bifocals all the time.

Since I have given up dying my hair, and given in to the grey, I think I should rethink my glasses, but will have to wait a while as the lenses are so expensive!

Luckygirl, it matters not if you think glasses are no big deal. I am sure you, and your Daughter, and many more people look wondefrul in them. I do not. I didn't actually say I hate glasses. I said I hate wearing glasses.
