My skin is becoming very dry and even moisturising creams aren't alleviating the feeling of dryness. Has anyone tried any of the facial oils on the market now? I've seen the L'Oreal Extraordinary Facial Oil but it's quite expensive. Has anyone tried this, or have any recommendations for another?

I use DHC olive oil cleanser. They also do a version that you apply & leave on.
The other one I like is Bio-oil.

Can you use Bio Oil on the face jane? I've used that on elbows etc but not as a facial moisturiser. And what's DHC? Not heard of that.

www.dhcuk.co.uk/deep-cleansing-oil

They recommend using the oil to remove make up & then cleansing, but I just massage the oil in & then rinse off & put moisturiser on.
DHC is mail order & with each order they send you 4 free samples so it's a good way to try out their products.
Also you can get smaller sizes than the one in the link.
Yes I've put bio-oil on my face sometimes!

Chewbacca
I love Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse Multipurpose Oil, it's great for face, body and (in very tiny amounts) hair!
It's available from M&S, 50ml costs £17-00 and the 100ml is £29-00. Although the 100ml bottle is obviously better value, if you're only going to be using it on your face it will last forever and a day, so you would be fine with the 50ml bottle!
Try it, it's wonderful, and it doesn't smell too 'oily' either IYSWIM!

Yes, what Juggernaut says ^.

And Sanctuary Spa's Therapist's Secret Facial Oil.

Though I don't know if you've noticed that the L'Oreal one is 30% off on Boots online at the moment, Chewbacca?

Waitrose do a range called Pure, their facial oil is lovely, fragrance free and light on the skin. It's about £2.99 a bottle.
Prior to that I used Boots biological range, also very good, but with a perfume.

Excellent! Thanks all for your advice, I think I'm going to try the Nuxe one first because I've still got some unused M & S vouchers from Christmas ! But the Waitrose one sounds a real bargain at £2.99! Thanks for the tip re Boots Maggie, now I've looked around, there are some good offers on the L'Oreal oil, certainly better than the £19.99 currently selling at in my local chemist.

You're a grand lot, Gransnetters!

Do try Googling Marula oil. I have been using it for a couple of months now and I love it. The only downside is that it is supposed to be odourless but it does have a faint smell . It doesn't bother me but DD didn't like it because of its scent.

I did try a rosehip oil that I bought via a shopping channel. That had a really unpleasant smell and left a feint tinge of yellow on my face. Not a good look!

Probably slightly better though than when my DD1 recommended that one application a day sun cream to me and I put it on over my usual moisturiser. When I got out of the car at the coast the family burst out laughing, as my face had turned green.

grin a bit reminiscent of Ann of Green Gables Maggie .

Or the Incredible Hulk. grin

Pure emu oil from Australia , buy online, really gentle and lovely but get a good one, worth the money

Jalima1108 Fri 14-Apr-17 20:08:54

Please don't use emu oil!!

Emu Oil is extracted from the thick fat on the Emu's back. To remove the oil and the surrounding fat, the Emu has to be killed. Although edible, Emu meat is considered pretty unappetising and tough

I use (or in fact forget to use) Clarins Rebalancing Oil.

Maggiemaybe Fri 14-Apr-17 23:32:02

I didn't know that, Jalima. I'm actually just using up some face cream with emu oil that I brought back from holiday a couple of years ago. I wouldn't have bought it if I'd known. sad

Jalima1108 Sat 15-Apr-17 10:36:30

I have read since that emus are bred for meat too and the oil is a bi-product.
The Americans farm them apparently, similar to ostrich.
