M & S do a nice nylon hat that folds into its own pouch, so handy for the bag or pocket.
Looks nice, comes in various designs, and not too expensive.

I have a couple of nice, fairly smart shower/rain proof jackets but neither have a hood. I suppose one is meant to use an umbrella but I am not good with them (usually end up poking someone with it or it blows inside out in the wind we get here.)Also hands full leading dog or holding toddlers hand. I'd love to be one of those chic people you see sporting a large domed see through number, but being a short ar.. take up far too much space at face height. I have tried the barbour waxed hats but look like a mushroom. Would appreciate suggestions from any of you glamorous gransnetters.
