Have worn a white outfit to the Passchendaele memorial service ?

I know there are far more important things in the world and usually I wouldn't give a flying.... about any royals outfit but I felt this was wholly inapropriate on this occasion.

I thought Kate looked beautifully elegant.
Charles however - my comment to my dh was that Charles looked like he'd borrowed that suit from the back of someone's wardrobe.

Nanabilly Thu 03-Aug-17 12:15:15

According to newspaper reports Kate's outfit was dove grey and not white.

As usual, I typed but didn't check, old habits when a keyboard didn't alter what you wrote. Should have been, always got it right and do not have a probkem. Apologies.

I think she skyways seems to get it right with her clothes, do funny have a problem with white, however wish she would put on a few pounds, does she never eat.

I hate all this "royal" crap . Who are they ? Really? I have more respect for the prime minister than I ever could for these people who live in a cuckoo world of wealth and privilege . Also why does Charles wear so many medals ? What are they ? For sports days ? Why does Kate now talk with a plum in her mouth? She didn't before ?
All these questions and so many more .......

Yes, they do kitty.

Glad I'm not in the public eye for folk to dissect my choice of outfit, state of awkwardness, or anything else. Must be horrible. sad

kittylester Tue 01-Aug-17 07:55:03

I agree baggs but I'm not sure they have to do so any more, do they?

I'm not comparing Charles and Kate Annie, if that's what you meant, just saying that she looked good and he looked a mess!

Just seen some pictures. I think it's ridiculous that women have to curtsey to royalty. The picture of the Prime Minister doing so (to William, I think) makes her look even more physically awkward than she usually does. It might look allright eere she wearing Victorian dress, but in modern clothes it just looks silly.

And unnecessarily submissive. She is William's and the Queen's equal when all's said and done, as are we all.

I'm sure she took advice on what to wear, and I thought she looked elegant. I like the fact that she had her hair up, so much more appropriate for the occasion. Prince Charles looked a mess, wearing an ill-fitting crumpled suit. It was as if he couldn't be bothered to make an effort to look smart.

Anniebach Mon 31-Jul-17 18:31:02

Comparing a man of 68 and a woman of 35 ?

BlueBelle Mon 31-Jul-17 16:03:31

I thought Kate's outfit was beautiful and a very appropiate colour peaceful calm and very pretty
I agree Charles didnt look so hot he looks much better in darker clothes

kittylester Mon 31-Jul-17 15:49:53

I think you are right baggs - he does look awkward. I fear he is turning into a caricature of himself as he seems so stuck in the past and so pompous. The Queen doesn't look half so stuffy but still regal.

jollyg Mon 31-Jul-17 15:28:45

Baggs there must be superior charity shops nearby to HRH mansion.

He has been known to turn up in a much rejuvenated DB jacket!

Now with a wife he should know better, or be guided, but being himself, he is HRH.

Keep on going Queenie,

Cherrytree59 Mon 31-Jul-17 15:13:11

Prince Charles looks better in uniform (IMHO)
May be a blazer type jacket would look better
More structured (iyswim)

Baggs Mon 31-Jul-17 14:49:43

There must be a system for deciding what royals wear to special occasions. I'd love to inow how it works.

Baggs Mon 31-Jul-17 14:46:44

I think Charles always looks awful. It's not the clothes. I didn't know I thought that until just now!

I think Theresa May always looks awkward too. She seems to be an awkward person, physically. That's a plain observation, not a criticism. Bit like Gordon Brown in the awkwardness league.

Kate Middleton, by contrast, is not an awkward person, imo, and she looks particularly elegant when her hair is up.

kittylester Mon 31-Jul-17 14:05:10

TBH, I thought Charles looked awful!

Cherrytree59 Mon 31-Jul-17 13:11:21

There is BBC picture of Prince Charles wearing a light summer suit.
So I think light coloured attire must have been discussed.

annsixty Mon 31-Jul-17 12:42:10

Just us then nina.

mumofmadboys Mon 31-Jul-17 12:32:55

I thought she dressed very appropriately for the occasion.

henetha Mon 31-Jul-17 12:32:21

I thought she looked absolutely lovely. The white outfit was just right.

Anniebach Mon 31-Jul-17 12:31:04

I like today's outfit, white and beige , softer

M0nica Mon 31-Jul-17 12:28:44

In many cultures white is the colour of mourning. I thought white was absolutely the right colour to wear. It has associations with both mourning and peace.

Poor girl, whatever colour she wore was bound to be criticised, so she chooses white and that is criticised as well
