Perfume - what are your favourites?

I love perfume and wear it every day. I've noticed recently though that some perfumes I have worn for years suddenly don't seem to have the same staying power. For instance my most recent purchase, Chanel Allure Sensuelle, is undetectable on me after an hour or so - it was EDP by the way. Its either my skin changing or the formulation as I've bought it in the past and don't remember having the same problem.

Does anyone have fragrance they can recommend? I'm looking for a summery one at the moment but would be interested in hearing suggestions generally.

I've always liked L'aimant which is rather old-fashioned I suppose but it reminds me of my mum. It's fairly light.

My all time favourite was Elysian by Clarins but it's been discontinued for at least 15 years. I still have a tiny amount in a dark cupboard that I can use on very special occasions.
I too try out various ones in dept stores and even the ones I think I like when first applied change and become synthetic smelling later. I like floral, but not too sweet, and something that lasts.
Hate those dark heavy sickly ones like Opium or Poison.
I do like Jo Malone Basil and Ginger but even that can be overpowering at times.

My most favourite perfume of all is called Knowing by Estee Lauder. I used to wear it every day. Now I have two others as well so alternate. After The Rain by Arran Aromatics and Carribbean Wild Flowers by Crabtree & Evelyn.

My every day perfume is Ghost Deep Night Eau de Toilette which my daughter bought me as a Mothers Day present but my favourite for specials is Chanel Chance.

My mum's favourite was L'air du Temps, and I inherited some, which I love and people remark on. Lovely and lightly floral.
But my real favourite is Beautiful by Esther Lauder, and it lasts all day even though my nose gets accustomed to it, my husband says I still smell lovely at bedtime. Dune is my going out in the evening one and lasts forever.

This has been a happy trip down memory lane (apart from Youth Dew - yuck) - Rive Gauche, Ma Griffe, Aqua Manda! Marc Jacobs Decadence and Chanel No 19 for me these days.

I also go for Chanel Allure EDP, but not the Sensuelle, the original. Get no end of compliments, and I am sure it helped when I was job hunting!

Used to love Avon Topaze (anyone remember it?) My mother too used Elizabeth Arden's Blue Grass constantly, I never liked the smell, but it always reminded me of her.

I used Givenchy 111 until it was discontinued, it had a gorgeous smell and lasted for ages. Now use Geurlain Mitsouko or Chanel no 5. For summer I like Tea Tree by Elizabeth Arden

Yes I remember Topaz but preferred To A Wild Rose it came in a lovely white bottle

My absolute favourite is J'adore (Christian Dior) but I can't afford to buy it. sad

'Giorgio' by Armani. Or 'Je Reviens'.

Used to love Rive Gauche and Anais Anais when I was younger. Wore Clinique Happy, Happy Heart or Happy To Be for a while but stopped wearing any perfume when daughter said would I stop making her baby smell like me! (All those cuddles!). Now wearing Lancome la Vie Est Belle and making baby grandson smell like me ?

No recommendations, but - has anyone tried the Library of Fragrance perfumes? Particularly the Honeysuckle? They sound lovely but my local Boots don't stock them. They only seem to be available online and can't find any reviews of them. Thanks!

In the heady days when I was young, free and single I used Quadrille by Balenciaga and Mitsouko for best and Femme for everyday. Then I got married and was very hard up so it was Aqua Manda! After divorce I tried quite a few different perfumes and my favourite was Dalissime (I could only get this at the duty-free shop in Fuerteventura). My signature scent, though, and the only one I wear now is Opium - and they have definitely changed that from the original which I started wearing in 1982, the first bottle given to me by my favourite uncle who sadly died the next year. So I wear it for him and also because my 4 grandchildren now recognise it as "Grandma's scent".

Today I was using "Green Tea" by Estee Lauder.

Guerlain Samsara was another of my favourites although I haven't worn it for some time.

I am loving this topic! Recognizing some old favourites.
I now have discovered a fairly new one and it's definitely top s for me.
It's by Charlotte Tilbury and I think it's the first one she's got, it's gorgeous 'Scent of a Dream' certainly my new go to.

Always loved Madame Rochas in my 20's and have since journeyed through many of the ones mentioned on here. Current favourites are Jo Malone lime, basil and mandarin and Pomegranate Noir. Do not like the Mimosa and Cardamom though! Use it as an expensive air spray in the bathroom to use it up. Always have a squirt of Clinique's aromatics when I see it.

"Daisy" by Marc Jacobs, summery, fresh and long lasting.

Norah Wed 23-Aug-17 18:48:06

Lolita Lempicka.

BBbevan Wed 23-Aug-17 18:53:45

DH used to wear Denim then changed to Eau Savage. I often borrowed that. Now he doesn't wear any aftershave as he has a beard ☹️

Suzyb Wed 23-Aug-17 18:55:05

Can't believe no ones mentioned Eau Dynamisante by Clarins. I love it as an everyday scent...so light but well recognized. Also love others on this thread.

devongirl Wed 23-Aug-17 18:56:18

gulligranny I remember Aqua Manda from my student days!! Can you still get it?

phoenix Wed 23-Aug-17 19:09:50

The first "grown up " perfume my mother bought me was Givenchy 111, (3) .

I've also remembered, in my younger years, loving Calandre, by Paco Raban, both are quite light.

Lynnebo Wed 23-Aug-17 19:16:31

I'm using Paul Smith 'Rose' which my daughter gave me for my birthday. She chose it because it came in a rose covered fabric bag which made her think of me ? ?
