Does anyone still have an Avon lady? I used to be one in the 1990's when my children were small and my mum was one in the 1960's. It was a great way of meeting people and making some pin money.

My Granddaughter is an Avon lady although her customers tend to come to her or tell her online what they want to order and are mainly family or friends.

I've never had one, mum bought off a lady at work when I was a child. I used to feel very grown up using my Pretty Peach range smile
I don't know of any agents in my area.

Yes we have one, we have never been without one for many years. It is supposed to be a very "Good territory " so when one leaves someone else very soon takes over.
We have a young mum at the moment who is expecting a second baby in May so time will tell.
They have all been lovely young women and I always have a nice chat but I don't give them much business now and I had so much stuff at C*******s I won't be doing so for months.

I tried dong it also in the late 1990’s noughties when mine were small but tbh I found I made no money! I just broke even, it needed lots of time (and a car would have helped) and it was a huge hassle with 3 young children to manage and a poorly DH

I sold Avon for about 6 months back in the early 80's when my son was a toddler, but like jenpax it never really paid enough to make the effort worthwhile.
We used to have a lady call, she did it for years over a large area and at her workplace. Used to have a few bits. But after she gave up no one seemed to be able to stay for long. I think there is someone doing it, but no idea who she is.

It was hard work. If Fitbits had been invented I would have easily reached daily walking targets!

My mum was an Avon lady in the 70s
She must have been quite good as she won several prizes for her sales.
I remember her winning a lovely clock.

I have an Avon lady that calls, she comes on her bike.
She says its her exercise and likes a chat with her regulars.
She is a single mum and Avon is her second job.
I don't use Avon make-up, but in the Summer I buy their sun protection.
On this occasion I have ordered children's bath coloured paint not sure what my DD will think but I'm sure the little ones will love itgrin

We had one but very intermittently and sometimes the brochures weren't collected so I've given up on Avon. They did have some nice makeup though

I haven't seen an Avon lady for a long time but I buy Avon So Soft online as it is a very good insect repellent especially to keep the wee beasties away in Scotland.

I have an Avon lady. She is also my friend from years back and we have a lovely catch-up when she delivers my order!

Coolgran65 Mon 29-Jan-18 18:11:29

I regularly buy several Avon items off eBay. It's about 1/3 the brochure price.

I stopped buying from my local Avon lady (although I do like some of their stuff) because she always had a miasma of cigarette smoke hanging around her and so did my delivery. I've never smoked and can't stand the smell of smoke am very sensitive to the smell.

Avon, which had a no animal testing policy for many years, is sadly no longer cruelty free. They have chosen to sell their products in China and therefore pay the Chinese government to test their products on animals.

My mum was an Avon lady when I was at school. Loads of my class mates would take the brochures home and Mum got loads of orders from their mums and older sisters. As Mum worked in the city she also had many orders from her colleagues at work. She must have worked for them for almost thirty years.

I have a very nice Avon lady who has been around here for years. And I used to be one myself, back in the 1990's.

Daughter number 3 is an Avon lady, has been for years. I only found out recently that she has to pay for the catalogues, so she distributes them to one set of customers, then collects the orders and distributes them to the rest of her customers. She`s been doing it for many years now, and has built up a good number of customers. Sorry, that`s an awful lot of customers!

There are always Avon brochures on the counter of my local shop. Orders can be left there and collected when ready.....I think it’s a good idea

I occasionally buy Avon from a friend of my dil, she holds on to a book for me. I think a lot of her business is done via her Facebook page now though.

I stopped buying from Avon when I found out they still test on animals
