According to the Daily Mail Online, This Dress is the latest must have for fashion bloggers.
It looks to me like a nightdress my Granny might have worn.
What do you think?

Jalima Here's hoping... but still can't promise to keep a straight face!

The only person I can possibly imagine buying it is someone off to a fancy dress party as Wee Willie Winkie. But then £65 shockconfused

Nvella Fri 16-Feb-18 11:37:00

It’s awful

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Feb-18 11:24:05

Well, if she is 17 and a size 8 she may look quite good in it JoyBloggs! (With a big floppy hat and a pair of lace-up boots)

Possibly.

JoyBloggs Fri 16-Feb-18 09:06:48

What worries me is if I find myself sitting opposite someone wearing it on a train or in a cafe... I really will want to laugh out loud. How on earth will I keep my face straight when I remember all the hilarious comments on this thread!

I like Miss A's idea of somebody going into M and S and taking a selfie wearing it... perhaps we could offer a virtual prize for somebody who does this..?

Philp17 Fri 16-Feb-18 00:21:27

That pink just says 'corsets' to me.

Jalima1108 Fri 16-Feb-18 00:01:13

We will volunteer you MissA
wink

It would be good if someone could go into Marks and take a picture of themself in the dress, so we can see how it looks on a 'real woman'.

I went into our local M&S today and was very disappointed because I couldn't find this dress. I'd been hoping for a good laugh. They did have some matching sets of trousers and gilets in particularly unpleasant bright colours! I've bought a,rather nice Per Una skirt, but it is several years old and I found it on eBay!

the sixties we had minis-midis and maxis.alot of the maxis that survived to the seventies were the prairie dresses(laura ashley)
jessica mclintock did much better versions

Birene, it's 100% cotton - will look like a crumpled dish cloth in minutes. Click to enlarge the photos of the model wearing the dress and you'll see creases on the arms and back neck.

SpringyChicken Thu 15-Feb-18 22:33:36

I can't wait to see someone wearing this dress (and not as a joke). I'm won't be able to keep my eyes off it.

Birene Thu 15-Feb-18 22:31:50

Time M&S completely overhauled it's design team. They have been steadily going downhill and producing monstrosities like this for far too long. You used to be able to rely on them for well tailored clothes at an affordable price but their marketing people are trying too hard to compete with trendy shops catering for the youth market. Although having said that, I don't think any young person would be seen dead in this particular item! What they were good at was smart, capsule classics and quality tailoring. Now there appears to be very little quality control, haphazard sizing - particularly trouser lengths, and, as seen here , yet another trip down memory lane to the 70's. Hideous .I haven't looked at the details but I expect it's polyester or similar.

dustyangel Thu 15-Feb-18 21:36:22

It's in the the opening (first) post ajanela

ajanela Thu 15-Feb-18 21:30:29

I can't find a link to see this dress.

Aepgirl Thu 15-Feb-18 20:59:22

Exactly what I expect from M&S now. They have completely lost touch with those of us who were always loyal to the company. But they don't listen to anybody. You could always rely on them for a good quality basic sweater but they sell either horrid synthetic jumpers or expensive cashmere. I give up.

Kim19 Thu 15-Feb-18 20:48:07

I too thought it had the nightdress look but I wouldn't offend my bed.

Esspee Thu 15-Feb-18 20:23:15

I remember the days when almost anything in Per Una was perfect for me. Nowadays I only go into M&S when taking a shortcut elsewhere.

annifrance Thu 15-Feb-18 19:38:31

OMG absolutely ghastly. 'Nuff said.

minxie Thu 15-Feb-18 19:25:48

Fabulous if your off haunting

GabriellaG Thu 15-Feb-18 18:56:44

I like the pretty pink colour of the ruffle-cuff dress but the side seams look chunky and the model's shoes...wow! they look like canoes.
You can bet that neither dress nor shoes are made here. Why can't we buy decent affordable British clothing any more?

harrysgran Thu 15-Feb-18 18:54:59

Oh my goodness I wouldn't donate it to a charity shop it's hideous

varian Thu 15-Feb-18 18:49:35

Emily don't you think that dress would be nicer and a lot more wearable without the ruffle cuffs and in a better colour?

GabriellaG Thu 15-Feb-18 18:44:40

MawBroon

Nah...mine are brown.

EmilyHarburn Thu 15-Feb-18 18:02:48

I prefer the ruffle cuff midi dress but not in that colour.
