According to the Daily Mail Online, This Dress is the latest must have for fashion bloggers.
It looks to me like a nightdress my Granny might have worn.
What do you think?

Too early for an April Fool's day joke. Maybe it could be used as a shroud - 'though I wouldn't be seen dead in it.

I note there is no photo of someone modelling it. They'd be a laughing stock.

Jane10 Tue 13-Feb-18 21:01:49

I'm sitting here wearing it now. I think I look lovely smile
(Lie alert!!)

Chewbacca Tue 13-Feb-18 20:53:41

I think it's the colour of old ladies bloomers. I cannot think of any woman, of any age, who would look good in that dress. The dresses in the 70s weren't gathered with several layers of knicker elastic around the waist like that one, and they were better cut too.

Maggiemaybe Tue 13-Feb-18 20:37:20

Yes, I used to wear similar as well, Laura Ashley floral with two inch of broderie anglaise petticoat peeking out underneath. Never in pink though. I think it'd look cute on the right person (probably one of my DDs, and definitely not me grin).

Marydoll Tue 13-Feb-18 19:53:24

Actually I am wearing one, as I post.

Only joking. grin It is absolutely hideous!

NonnaW Tue 13-Feb-18 19:48:43

I remember something similar in the 70’s, in peach but mine actually as a nightdress (blush I couldn’t afford a proper one). Then of course I was about 18, and it was what other people were wearing. Definitely not now!

and Cherrytree

Those were the days, my friend
We thought they'd never end

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 19:43:51

Bbevan you had the same thought!

Jalima1108 Tue 13-Feb-18 19:43:09

Well, it's horrible! and too expensive for a nightie.

Come to think of it, I may have had something of a similar style when I was young - Laura Ashley - but not that ghastly pink and it had flowers on it. Worn with a floppy hat.

Nanabilly Tue 13-Feb-18 19:21:11

My immediate thought was little house on the prairie too.
No wonder they are losing sales

varian Tue 13-Feb-18 19:16:52

Do M&S fashion dept. have a death wish?

Charleygirl Tue 13-Feb-18 18:52:31

Hideous as a dress and worse as a nightdress- who chooses this rubbish?

Nanawind Tue 13-Feb-18 18:36:55

Horrid style, colour and price.

BBbevan Tue 13-Feb-18 18:05:00

Laura Ashley rides again.

Cherrytree59 Tue 13-Feb-18 17:08:22

grannyactivist I had similar in seventies.
Purple,
I wore it with a white lace cotton waist slip that was a couple inches longer than the dress.
And floppy hat and large sunglasses.
Or with white high boots.
Thought I was the bees knees

Now I think granny with lace cap, shawl and night candle

Except I am that gran! shock
but it definitely won't be making it to my wardrobe.
Awful colour (IMHO) grin

MissAdventure Tue 13-Feb-18 16:59:31

Ouch!

Chewbacca Tue 13-Feb-18 16:57:57

This one's not much better either

Telly Tue 13-Feb-18 16:55:29

Still could always double as a nightie in an emergency!

Tegan2 Tue 13-Feb-18 16:54:49

What has happened with fashion over the past few years is that, at one time us oldies could wear pretty much what the young are wearing. But now, things aimed at youngsters are designed to look frumpy on us but great on them [that's my theory anyway]. Blush pink is so last year, though [or even the year before].

Chewbacca Tue 13-Feb-18 16:54:45

Stone the crows that's awful! Is it any wonder that M & S are going down the pan and having to close stores? What demographic are their buyers aiming at? shock

mostlyharmless Tue 13-Feb-18 16:51:29

Hideous! I can’t think what the target market would be for that!

grannyactivist Tue 13-Feb-18 16:36:56

Very 60's I think - my sister certainly had one similar in a floral print that she wore with a floppy hat.

ginny Tue 13-Feb-18 16:29:38

Little House on the Prarie comes to mind.

JoyBloggs Tue 13-Feb-18 16:14:00

They must be joking!!!!
