After the hoo ha of the Marks and Spencer pink dress, I thought you might like to see this one. It was part of an email from John Lewis. Ghost are marketing this summer Poppy dress. Another dreary offering.

Luckygirl Tue 06-Mar-18 19:32:54

Mmm - yes - it lacks something.

Nanawind Tue 06-Mar-18 19:34:17

£150 for something that looks like a rag no thanks.

ginny Tue 06-Mar-18 19:39:39

Yeuk. . That neckline doesn’t do much for most people.

suzied Tue 06-Mar-18 19:43:34

I could run that up for £12. Not that I’m offering!

Eloethan Tue 06-Mar-18 19:56:36

Frumpy and unattractive even on the model.

Eloethan Tue 06-Mar-18 19:58:23

In my opinion, M&Co have some much nicer dresses at around £50 or under.

Well! If these are what we are all to be wearing this summer, I think I'll stick to trousers.??

Yuk

Ghost used to be so good! Admittedly I'm going back about 30 years hmm I've just bought a very nice Per Una dress - several years old from eBay. It's about the only place you can find attractive clothes at affordable prices.

tassiegran Tue 06-Mar-18 22:57:15

Very shapeless and frumpy!

I like it but wouldn't pay £150. White Stuff has lovely dresses which are similar for about £60 and they are always giving discounts.

The way the model is standing doesn't do the dress any favours, but having said that, the dress has nothing to recommend it. The style is straight from the 1940s, something my mother might have run up in an evening. Who pays good money for this boring article?

glammanana Wed 07-Mar-18 10:30:43

Very dull indeed the only way to dress it up would be a wide black belt and sweetheart neckline.
I would never pay that much for a day dress anyway.

Auntieflo Wed 07-Mar-18 13:52:27

It was the peculiar sleeves that got me. They seem to be somehow gathered and turned under, puffy?

Fennel Wed 07-Mar-18 16:34:59

£150!
I wonder what it's made of, it must be pure silk at that price.
I once had a dress like that, it was pure silk, black background with a bright red poppy print.

I’ve just ordered a nice dress in the Pure collection website sale. V neck, knee length, sleeves.

This morning I was browsing a Joe Brown Collection brochure that came in one of the weekend papers and there are some lovely dresses there, very reasonably priced. However at my height only a couple were long enough, most of them being about 40" in length; just a thought.

NotTooOld Wed 07-Mar-18 18:32:53

That is a truly awful and unflattering dress. I certainly wouldn't pay £150 for it.

Mapleleaf Wed 07-Mar-18 18:33:37

I think I'll stick with what I've already got!

Lazigirl Wed 07-Mar-18 19:26:31

I hardly ever wear dresses these days and think this is quite pricey, and I wouldn't buy it, but seems quite a nice summer dress and I like the neckline. I am really not keen on low cut dresses.

Greyduster Wed 07-Mar-18 19:51:29

Glad I don’t wear dresses. There are some pretty frumpy unflattering dresses in Next, too.

MaizieD Wed 07-Mar-18 21:01:36

It's not as awful as the M & S one, though. That haunted me; having clicked on the picture in the Gnet thread the damn thing kept popping up in adverts on web pages I visited for weeks..

I love the poppies but the dress would look like a sack on me (but fabulous on my size 10 DD)
