I’m sick of seeing Mary Berry too but nothing to do with facelifts . I know (a bit like the queen) you’re not allowed to not like MB on GN .

I agree . I’m sick of the same airbrushed and facelifted faces of Lulu, Helen Mirren, Nigela on the front of almost every magazine when there are plenty “real” women out there !

I am always amazed when I read all the admiration for Helen Mirren because I honestly don't think she's in the least bit attractive.
Nor is Lulu, who has obviously had loads of work done too.
hmm

I bet she isn't half as nice a person as you though Kate! flowers

Google Helen Mirren and see her swathed in bandages from her face lift.

There’s plenty of older women out there who are just as good role models such as Stephanie Cole, Moira Stewart and Judi Dench. They are all, in their own way, helping to promote the idea that being older and a woman is OK.

That's why I gave up Good Housekeeping if its wasn't Helen Mirren, it was Lulu, Nigella or someone else being wonderful. All perfectly nice women but these articles are written in such an unreal way. I'd love to know more about the 'real' women behind the showbiz gloss. They all seem to say the same things e.g. I never diet or exercise I must have naturally small bones.. I cook from fresh organic vegetables every day and only a small piece of chocolate every other Xmas - unreal!

I know Lucky I usually do but just today when I am struggling with a lot of physical problems I was cross. Just a bit of a light-hearted rant! Thank you for replying, I know you have far more serious issues to worry about. flowers

I think as women get older in showbiz, the focus becomes more about how 'great' they look, so its now part of her job, in a sense, to appear so flawless.
It probably gets on her nerves, I'd imagine.

None of it is real - let it wash by you - not worth wasting a moment being in a bad mood. We Gransnetters just rise above this nonsense!

Helen Mirren (again) on the front of my monthly glossy magazine (bought as a gift from a friend) looking stunning and speaking about her wonderful life. Yes, all styled and probably airbrushed. Why has this put me in a bad mood?
