Grey hair dye - help needed!

I've spent the last few years growing my natural hair out (yep, it's all grey!) and it's been great not having to spend hours in a hair salon anymore, but I'm fed up with how lacklustre my shade of grey is so am considering enhancing it with a good old box dye. Does anybody use grey hair dye? Which are the best ones to use? I'm aware this all sounds a bit mad - dyeing my grey hair grey!

You may be better using something that enhances and lifts your grey hair. I use a shampoo for grey hair that gets rid of the yellow tones and lifts the grey colour. Lots of them on the market and usually coloured blue (which rinses out.).

Go to Superdrug buy a silver toner , or a wash in wash out colour violet or silver which will lift the colour and give it shine, plus it washes out if you don't like it.

I agree about Superdrug they have a great selection,DDs friend uses a boxed grey colour from there and she is very young her hair shines and has loads of bounce I'm not sure of the make but the girls in Superdrug are very helpful I have always found

I was going to suggest something with silver in its name too . Plenty about and you might not get the regrowth lines showing as you would a dye. Don't worry you will not go purple as most silver shampoos are purple coloured. Lol

I quite like my grey hair, colouring it myself was hit and miss and didnt want to live at hairdressers.. However, the way people react towards me has definitely changed, I've been called dear a few times as if I'm an old croc. Some one gave their seat up to me on the bus. I still have it cut into a fashionable bob, dress modern, the thing that has changed is my hair colour, I am considering putting a colour on it again.

I've gone past grey to silvery white now. But the advantage is I was offered a seat on the underground yesterday at the height of the rush hour!

Mine is mainly silver now and I use Aveda Blue Malva shampoo which eliminates the yellowing that sometimes occurs with white hair. It's purple, but doesn't make your hair purple - just keep the top firmly on if it's in your suitcase. blush

Sounds as if you have experience of loose shampoo bottle tops annodomini? hmm
I am lucky to have no grey hairs at all - mine is medium brown and it's just so nice n'easy!! blush

Another vote for Aveda Blue Malva. I have found that a number of the other purple shampoos make my head itch after a few uses. The blue malva is expensive to buy (£30+) because they only sell it in one litre bottles - I also get a pump which makes it much more economical than tipping the bottle up. A bottle lasts me about a year.

You could also try a serum after your colour , which ever one you decide on . Loads of serums on the market and all I have used are very much the same . They give your hair loads of shine which is usually missing in grey hair . I also find that using a straightening tongue also gives the appearance of shine . Mine is not grey because I still colour but it is coarser now so the serum gets rid of t\hat .

I recommend these

www.amazon.co.uk/BLONDE-VIOLET-TONING-SHAMPOO-CONDITIONER/dp/B071ZMN77L/ref=sr_1_4_s_it?s=beauty&keywords=fudge+shampoo+clean+blonde+violet&tag=gransnetforum-21&ie=UTF8&qid=1527073765&sr=1-4

They are huge and will last ages. I've been using them for awhile now having tried every other toning product and my hair is bright, sparkly and in fantastic condition.
