I totally sympathise with you amiesgran and others. I'm 56 and my hair has been getting thinner and thinner for about 10 years now. It really depresses me as there is little/nothing I can do about it. I hate going to the hairdressers and I dread a windy day as I look almost bald on top if it blows. My sister is a few years younger and has fabulous naturally blonde hair and lots of it too.

Sorry to hear that Panache.

My scalp is not showing through (yet) but it is a pain as I used to have such thick hair. Any tips to add a bit of volume would be greatly appreciated smile.

I think gradual thinning is just something you have to accept as part of growing older. Body hair will also thin and facial hair will grow. It´s something to do with oestrogen levels. If you´ve always had a thick head of hair and it´s getting thinner, just accept it. If your scalp is showing through, see a doctor, there may be supplements you can take.

Oh1 dear a ton of sympathies anniesgran........I have written in several threads expressing the growing new problems I have had and still having with my hair, but then it has always presented me with various issues.
My hair is snow white, baby soft and it has a mind of its own with a parting forming at the front (distinct thinning of hair) whilst my crown seems to have disappeared!
All this is of no help or uplift and I am sorry to say that I cannot even help myself.
I do believe it goes with the territory of aging however I again seem to have had problems from an early age........whether perceived or actual is anyone`s guess.
I am sure you will find plenty of useful advice with other GN`s who seem such a canny bunch, and always eager to help.
I can but add.......Good luck!

I am 64. Seems to have gotten worse since I was about 50ish - quite gradual thinning confused

Please elaborate. How old are you? How much thinner? I have always had thin brown hair. Funnily enough, the grey hair that I am getting now seems to be thicker than my brown hair was before. My grandmother and great-aunts had lovely full heads of white hair. Or so it seems to me now with time passing.

Does anyone have the same issue?
