I just bought a summer jumpsuit not something I’ve worn for many years, it just caught my eye in navy and white pinstripe and I dared to try it on and low and behold it fit perfectly and looked lovely.
It wasn’t till I got home and OH had to do the long zip up and undo it again that I realised I wouldn’t be able to get out of it by myself to should I need to pee. The zip was one of those nylon ones and not easy to pull up or down and I’m really disappointed but it will have to go back. ?

Tanith, I did go and try a few jumpsuits on after reading your post, but none seemed to look right on me , they looked better on the hanger! So I bought a couple of pairs of trousers (harem style) from Next, teemed them with a sleeveless matching tshirt or a camisole top, it looks fabulous on , suits me , and I can get in and out when I need a loo, Result! Am happy ,

If you run the zipper teeth with a pencil it makes the zipper easier to open. There are lots of aids around www.completecareshop.co.uk/dressing-and-comfort-aids/button-hooks/button-hook-and-zip-puller-view-large?admoo=~a:462~b:xxx~c:xxx~d:xxx~e:xxx~f:xxx~g:1082582074~h:53948941616~i:xxx~j:xxx~k:xxx~l:g~m:m~q:1o3~s:~t:9046606~v:online~w:pla~y:14507628891170820798&gclid=Cj0KCQjwibDXBRCyARIsAFHp4frSNep3uAWKCnni4Pr25dqcyLgtZbjN9ZNkGWO5Co2WbgfG5BNSz3waAq1qEALw_wcB
And also look on eBay or amazon for zip aids .

So pleased that you have been able to wriggle in and out of your jumpsuit tanith, we will want to hear all about you and its first outing this weekend grin. You may have started a trend for gorgeous grans wearing jumpsuits, I am also now wondering whether I dare buy one as I loved them first time around.

goldengirl Wed 02-May-18 14:52:59

I used to wear jumpsuits a lot. Very comfortable. I wouldn't wear them now though as when I need the loo - I need the loo!!!!!!

tanith Wed 02-May-18 10:59:14

Haven’t worked that one out trisher but I’ll find out at the weekend and report back ?. I guess I wouldn’t mind at all if asked to unzip someone .
Thanks for all the help ladies and good hunting Lilypops.
Come and let us know isn’t GN great.

trisher Wed 02-May-18 10:20:47

Please, please can you tell me what you do with your jump suits when you go to a less than perfectly clean loo. I remember the first time they were fashionable and the awful problem of trying to keep it off the floor whilst having a wee, reaching for toilet paper etc. I seldom managed it. I suppose I visit fewer less salubrious establishments these days but it would worry me even more now!

ffinnochio Wed 02-May-18 09:39:43

Oops - a case of DRTWT!

Glad you’ve found a way, tanith.

Panache Wed 02-May-18 09:36:05

Lilypops.............. as it so happens Kim of the Kim & Co (Qvc Shopping channel) mentioned above is more or less your size and of course designs with herself in mind, as well as fits for us all.
By the way I am not having any commision for the mention!!!!

Delighted to hear your news Tannith and I bet you get loads of compliments!!Good on you gal.

ffinnochio Wed 02-May-18 09:30:18

Turn the ‘asking’ someone, around, tanith. If someone asked you to undo a back zip, would you mind?

The jumpsuit looks good!

Panache Wed 02-May-18 08:58:27

Willow500 you have just mentioned Kim & Co (QVC shopping Channel) and yes almost all mine have come via Kim and she designs them both using the right materials and styling so that you have no problems in slipping them on and off....................further more she has a whole range of colours and patterns to choose from.
We are determined to make sure you get into and enjoy your Jump suit Tannith!!!

Hi Tanith, I have been thinking for a while about a jumpsuit, I love them on other people , but I thought on me ,no, but having read your post and looked at several , I am going to get one for Summer, I thought that at 71 years. Being 5'1" and a little too curvy , ? But to hell with it , am going for one today , I hope you enjoy wearing yours, am sure you will look lovely ,

tanith Tue 01-May-18 23:07:22

Hurrah!! Result I managed to wiggle into it without undoing the zip. Bit of a struggle as the straps are nice and wide but it was fine. Now I’ve decided to keep it I’ll also try the other methods you all suggested so thanks all of you I’m so pleased now. ???

tanith Tue 01-May-18 20:26:23

Auntieflo I thought the same but truly I was amazed how comfortable it was and nice it looked and fitted. Maybe just try one on and you might be surprised.

Willow500 Tue 01-May-18 20:18:29

I've just bought my 3rd jumpsuit - this one is black and floral, the other 2 are black and sage green. They are all by Kim & Co and designed to slip off and on with no fastenings. As I practically spend all day back and forth to the loo they'd be useless if I couldn't get them off quickly hmm

Auntieflo Tue 01-May-18 19:36:54

I'd love a jump suit, but think I'd look like a refugee from the 40's. Now all I need would be the headscarf. grin. So it will be a no from me then.

KatyK Tue 01-May-18 19:27:42

Just remembered I have two smile Both summery pull-on-and-offable.

KatyK Tue 01-May-18 19:24:34

I have one which I bought for hols. I love it. No zips. You just step into it and can sort of just pull it down and back up easily to go to the loo. I've had it a while though and can't remember where it's from.

Gerispringer Tue 01-May-18 17:38:03

I’ve got s couple of jumpsuits and love them, one is a jersey one you can just pull on and off no fastenings I think I got it in Uniqlo. I’ve got a silk evening one with a belt I made myself and I put in a side zip.

tanith Tue 01-May-18 17:31:21

Haha that doesn’t surprise me janeainsworth
Mary59nana not sure I have the gumption to ask someone to unzip me but I’m certainly going to give it some thought.

janeainsworth Tue 01-May-18 17:26:51

An advert for a navy and white striped jumpsuit has just appeared below the thread shockgrin

janeainsworth Tue 01-May-18 17:25:46

Tanith I agree with the suggestions of lubricating the zip. I’ve used wax crayons or candles in the past & that has worked well.
Good luck!

Mary59nana Tue 01-May-18 17:11:39

I also found a lovely jumpsuit last year fitted perfectly and very comfy to wear.
But I have RA so back zips are a problem ....
Not any more
When I go to the ladies I politely ask some inside to undo and someone else to do up.
It a great way to get chatting to people who are always pleased to help

humptydumpty Tue 01-May-18 16:55:42

tanith I wouldn't try the spray if you need to take it back...

Panache Tue 01-May-18 16:22:44

I do not wish to hear you call your years "an advanced age" Tannith!!! I am almost 10 years older and jumpsuits are my best friend!!!
You are not alone in making this innocent mistake but please, please do not let it put you off, as quite obviously you were very taken with it and I think that speaks loads.
Go for it lass!

tanith Tue 01-May-18 16:18:54

Panache I didn’t even think to see if I could wiggle out of it without unzipping I’ll defo give it a try later . As I said it wouldn’t of occurred to me to buy a jumpsuit at my advanced age of nearly 70 but this one just jumped off the rail at me ??
