Cream foundation recommendations please

I don’t wear foundation often but recently, when I do, it all just sits in my creases and makes them worse!
After a bit of research, I gather that ‘cream’ foundations are better for mature skin.
I originally thought mine was cream but now think it’s liquid foundation.

Googling just confuses me so I’m hoping some of you wise women might be able to help me please.
What cream foundations can you recommend?

Thanks

Well I've made a note of these sugestions and will have a look Thanks!

I like Nivea Daily Essentials 24 Hour Moisture + Soft Tint. I bought it by accident originally, thinking it was just moisturizer, because it was cheap in Wilko. It seems to work as a very light foundation, and also has SPF15.

BB or CC cream is very good but I still like Bare Minerals powder foundation for coverage & staying power. It never moves all day - there is a knack to applying it but with a good big brush it is very easy & looks natural.

I used to hate the feeling of foundation and powder, but now I use Aldi Lacura CC cream, medium skin tone, which is light, covers well, doesn't crease and has anti-aging benefits and spf15.
Only about £4 if I remember correctly. Maybe worth a try ?

Yes i agree -couldn't be bothered with all that. Too old to start all this lengthy beauty routine now!!
Tinted moisturiser sounds as if it might work for me though as I hate tge feel of foundation too. Will look in Boots. Whats it called? Just tinted moisturiser? Do they do different shades?
I really should stop using powder I know, but never found anything else to try.

God grief pinkjj - I'd have to get up at 5am to do all that! ?

lesley4357 Thu 17-May-18 12:31:51

Tinted moisturiser from the Body Shop. Gives enough cover without being a 'mask'. I hate the feeling of foundation and this suits me fine.

I only use avon they do a few foundations for older skin all of them lovely. The trick is preparation and application ,I always clean my face and apply moisturizer and sunblock and let that settle I then use use a primer base, I use and love revolution( superdrug) primer base its a spray but I put into a pad and press it into my skin. I use a brush to apply it and this makes sure too much does not sit in places it shouldn't and gives and air brushed finish. I then set the whole thing with setting spray again I press it in rather then spray it on Avon do a nice one so do revolution( superdrug) . Cleaning it off is very important too so you have a smooth surface next time. I have to say I am very lucky that I don't have many wrinkles but my makeup always looks good from dawn to dusk. I don't use powder i think it looks cakey and I always look for the words drewey or luminous. Avon do a cream foundation that turns powder which is lovely

Tinted moisturiser all the way! Foundations are too thick and claggy and seem to accentuate all my bad bits rather than hide them! Boots do a good one. BB creams are good too. Aldi have one on their special offer thing today so I'm going to try theirs too!

And what can I do about my shiny nose? Help please!

Coconut Thu 17-May-18 11:48:33

I can’t use any foundation, my skin needs to be left as natural as poss ...tinted moisturiser and that’s it !

pollyperkins Thu 17-May-18 11:07:30

Golly what a lot of layers. Id feel I needed to wash my face all day!

Humbertbear Thu 17-May-18 11:05:16

You should use a primer over your moisturiser and under the foundation. It also helps the foundation to stay on all day

pollyperkins Thu 17-May-18 10:27:40

Just read little flo's post - what i use is moisturiser with a little pressed powder as recommended here!

pollyperkins Thu 17-May-18 10:26:26

Well I'm obviously old fashioned. I hate the feeling of foundation and only use it for special occasions. Then I hate all the cleansing and it still leaves horrid marks on the towels.
I just use a little facecream (eg nivea or anti_aging facecream) and a light dusting of powder mainly on my nose (does not stick in creases as much as foundation in my experience) plus lipstick.
DH kindly tells me antiaging cream does not work. He thinks he's so funny!

Have you tried ‘cushion’ foundation in a compact? It gives a natural finish, doesn’t sit in lines badly, is buildable and portable for touch ups if required. Loads of cosmetic companies do versions and it’s really a matter of finding a good shade and deciding between a matte or dewy finish (eg Dior & Bobbi Brown are more matte - Lancôme & YSL more dewy). Only use a little powder on your T zone & a setting spray (can just be a mineral water spray). Hope that helps!

I just use a Clarins fake tan for face, gives a gentle natural glow, and add a little more on cheeks.

Apparently there are now some makeup fix sprays, that you just spray over your face once you've done your foundation. The girl who did our wedding makeup trial last week used this instead of powder and it did look good. I'm not sure what make it was though.

If I used a cc cream could I ditch the foundation?

janeainsworth Wed 16-May-18 13:11:27

Yes bmacca I agree about primers - I use Velvet skin coat from DHC.

I think one benefit of using a foundation whatever its level of creaminess is that most of them contain SPF to level 15 at least which gives some protection from UV light, the cause of pigmented blemishes and worse.

I do use powder sometimes but use a brush to put it on with - I think you get a much lighter covering and I don’t find it settles in the creases.

My daughter's friend is a makeup artist and she insists that using a primer is the key to a good finish. I've been using Illamasqua Hydra Veil which is lovely but it is a bit pricey so I've just got a Revolution ultra base primer from Superdrug. This was really cheap but works great. Maybe it would be worth you trying a cheap primer first, particularly if you still like the foundation you're already using

Lose the powder Littleflo it will always sit in the creases. A little blusher/bronzer applied lightly on a big brush on the cheek apples and chin (swept across) will brighten your face and take away any shine.
I use Bobbi Brown tinted moisturiser which is very creamy!

Clarins True Radiance is fantastic doesn't sit in the crinkly bits , is lovely and smooth and lasts well without having to put lots on and therefore although expensive it will last you a long time. Also try a primer first then it goes on even more smoothly Clarins Instant Smooth - a pot will last you a year.

Boots Number 7
'Intelligent colour'
Blends to your natural shade.
Light. Medium or Fair.
Boots make-up assistant will be happy to help and provide samples.
They also provide a skin colour match service.

In Summer I use Boots (fair) BB cream which also comes in Light, Medium and Dark.
It give a nice glow to the skin.

littleflo Wed 16-May-18 08:37:58

I watched a make up tutorial where moisturiser was applied first. Then a little pressed powder, then foundation. She said the powder first, helped fix the foundatiion.

I use Bobby Brown as I am very lined and everything else sits in the creases
