Socks

I have trouble with most of the socks and knee highs I buy. Either they are too tight. I have size 6 feet. They are tight at the top by my knee. The socks that go with trainers slip off the back of my heel. All in all I never feel totally comfortable. I don’t mind paying for something decent.

I did buy some compression pop socks as I have one ankle that swells and they wouldn’t stay up.

Any ideas please ?

I don't like knee high socks, they are uncomfortable as I have prominent veins at the back of my knees. I can't wear those awful trainer socks, for the same reason NanKate.
The ankle socks I like best are the soft top ones from M&S.

Another vote for ankle socks.

Yes, ankle socks for me, too, from M & S.

I recently bought some of those socks that are thick tight like material for wearing in shoes in the summer.
Can’t remember what they are called but they were more expensive than those I normally buy and they have a plastic strip on the heel so they don’t slip. I got them inTKMax and they are made by Calvin Kline.
Really good.

I never wear ankle socks in summer they just don’t look good with trainers or sketcher type in my opinion ....trainer or liner socks only
ankle or knee high in winter

I have exactly the same problem NanKate ..........having tried and tested various makes and heights.

Thankfully at the moment the kind weather calls for a cull on socks, so that seems the better answwer...... although of course there will still come a time when the dreaded sock saga rises its head yet again!!!

I wear Joules - I think they are made from (or at least contain) bamboo. I don't wear socks in summer. Mine are ankle socks. I don't ever wear tights or knee highs.

Ohh I forgot about knee hi’ s I meant long socks not half stockings in my post

Boots have bamboo soft-top socks which I find very comfortable. A local garden centre had a good supply of soft-tops. I prefer to use such socks which don't leave a ring round my ankles. I can't wait to get out of socks in the summer which has come early this year, so allow my feet to breathe in sandals.

I have the same problem, and enjoy going sock-less.
Why is it that the ?nylon knee highs seem to aggravate my feet, whereas cotton doesn't?
Or bamboo - must try them.

Thanks for all your advice. I do have to wear socks or knee highs all the time as my feet are quite tender and need to be covered up.

I will investigate Joules, bamboo and Boots ?

I did find some sock/liner things recommended on the Internet, so last night with credit card in hand I ordered a pack of 8 through Amazon. I should get them in a day or two and will report back. They are supposed to have a special piece on the back which stops them slipping off. We shall see if they come up to all the hype.

One of my ex pupils now sells cashmere socks. I was fully I tending to support her by buying a pair until I saw the price. If you are interested they are by Makeda Matheson.
