Pretty cotton nightie

I find cotton nighties are too thin and translucent for me especially on bright mornings. Some years ago I had a loose cotton dress that I could use as a nightie as it was floaty but the weave was denser than the cotton used for nighties. You could sew a loose dress from a suitable fabric .

I looked for ages for a satin nightdress, and eventually found what I wanted on Amazon.

I have found it impossible to get ordinary cotton nighties like that for some years. Those cottonreal ones are nice, but so expensive!
I make my own, I copy the yoke from an older one and the body is just a tube with a bit of gathering at the top. We have an old-fashioned haberdashers in this town, so a good choice of material

I always find lovely nighties in Matalan. They are perfect for the heat and very inexpensive.

Lands End also do nice nighties in different lengths.

SEACLIFF - Thanks so much for leading me to Cottonreal. I live in Italy and natural fabrics are essential in the summer heat. I found the styles so pretty I wanted them all. Have ordered two and can't wait for them to arrive. As to cost, I tell myself they'll "see me out"!

SEACLIFF! My Cottonreal nighties arrived and I am delighted with the designs and the quality of the cotton. One is in a very fine cotton twill and it cost me £26 in the SALE section. I think it is excellent value for the money. The other is in a fine white lawn. They both have shirring at the back which makes them very elastic and easy to sleep in.

seacliff lovely site. Not cheap so Christmas ideas for OH! Matalan is good and using summer dresses is good idea too. My husband bought me two very pretty cool short satin ones from Debs.
