Loving it.
Up early, chores done. Enjoy the rest of the day outside in the shade.
Won’t last forever , so making the most of it.

I'm loving it. It's giving me a good excuse to be lazy and do as little as I can get away with wink. Yesterday was busy, though, with my daughter, granddaughter and dog here for most of the day. Paddling pool was inflated, lots of suncream being slathered on, lots of excited shrieks and much running around by toddler, making the floors wet and slippery. Plates of chicken salad dished up around 5.00pm. Floors mopped dry, wet things on line, towels in washing machine. A lovely day, but exhausting! By 7.30, after they'd gone home and all the washing up and tidying had been done, I just zonked out and slept. For 2.5 hours shock
Today I've been back to doing very little grin

Love it, feels a bit like being on holiday every day.

Hot

Happy. I used to enjoy heatwaves, but since the menopause first struck, some seven or eight years ago, I have found hot weather unbearable. This time, something must have changed because I am not only coping with it, but loving it! It's like old times smile

Having the Boggy Brae unboggy has been rather surreal. Nice to have some actual summer though. Last year's was a wash out. 'Coolth' and cold and wet will be back soon enough. We needed heating on until the middle of May so natural warmth is very welcome.

Tired from lack of sleep, when in the future I complain of rain in Mid Wales tell me to shut up and be thankful. I miss the rain .

Lazy.

I have done the essential chores but then found a shady spot in the garden and relaxed with a book.

Early mornings for me too and get minimal chores done. I am quite happy to catch up on Vitamin D after a horrible winter.

I love it , it is like being on holiday . I have a spot in the gaden in the shade a comfortable chair and a good book . A gin and tonic as the day moves on adds to the pleasure.

Early morning I feel fine because every where is cool. Then everywhere gets hotter and hotter and so do I. By evening, after I have made a meal, I am a hot, sweaty mess........that's me now! hmm

Bit chilly here in Norfolk. We’ve had lovely days but most of the time seem to have a bit of breeze too.

Happy!! Windows and doors open all day. Eating out in the garden - days at the beach with grandson now DH is happy to be in wheelchair for outings in this great weather. Here in the north of Scotland we haven't had a summer like this for years - let's hope it continues as promised. Even if this sun isn't always shining bright it is warm and NOT raining! Only downside is I have to water my pots in the evening but I'll cope with that.

Heatwave? What heatwave?

Here in Northumberland for the last two days it has been overcast and cool, about 17C.

What is really galling though is that the clouds haven't managed to produce any rain. So I'm still having towater the garden.angry

Melting slowly.

Nannylovesshopping my bones too.

Had a very nasty arthritic flare up in February which continued through out horrible spring. I could hardly walk at one point and even googled mobility scooters. Now I’m walking miles with no pain, sleeping with no medication and enjoying being pain free - even if a little hot and sticky, it’s worth it.

I'm so glad I'm retired and can take it easier in this heat. I had DGC at the weekend so lots of cooking and I felt quite lightheaded and unwell. I slept better last night and I think it has cooled slightly now so feel a bit more normal.
I live in the city and when it is hot I always think of the Lovin' Spoonful song "Summer in the City".

Nannylovesshopping Mon 09-Jul-18 18:44:41

Wonderful and healing, my bones are loving it?

kittylester Mon 09-Jul-18 18:44:01

Jiggered! Life doesn't stop because it's hot!

Cabbie21 Mon 09-Jul-18 18:36:47

I have become very lazy. It is too much effort to be otherwise.
Yet I also feel disappointed that I have not made the effort to do certain things.
So I fluctuate between enjoying being lazy, and regretting missing out on things.

Efficient. I finally sorted out what clothing I need for the heat and like and have had a big clear out. Loose cotton trousers and loose boyfriend shirt.

Greyduster Mon 09-Jul-18 18:32:12

Debilitating.

BBbevan Mon 09-Jul-18 18:30:27

I don't know about other gransnetters, but I really struggle with this heat, and it brought to mind a passage from the film To Kill a Mocking Bird which for me sums up the unusual high temperatures that we are experiencing here in England perfectly.

'Ladies bathed before noon, after their 3 o'clock naps, and by nightfall, were like soft teacakes with frosting from sweating and sweet talcum'.

Do other gransnetters have a description of this heatwave?
