Heels or trainers?

I hope that by our age we are able to distinguish between different shoes for different occasions !
There will always be a market for heels but not necessarily the Melania Trump “from the taxi to the restaurant” variety.
I am not happy in them any more but the VanDal and Gabor heels and wedges I wore for the last formal occasions were surprisingly comfortable.

When I say heels, they are kitten heels, not high heels.

I've just bought my first pair of heels in I don't know how long. I usually wear flat, smart shoes or my sketchers trainers. When it's warm I have several pairs of sandals to keep my feet cool.

Later in life, high heels exacerbate bunions and cause foot problems and pain. Feet were never intended to be used with all the weight thrown on the ball, I always compare high heels to the Chinese practice of footbinding, ways of keeping women tied up and malleable....

Oh yes, and high heels shorten the calf muscle which will affect the pelvis (so cause back pain) and shorten the hamstrings and make it difficult to stretch the calves enough to walk comfortably in flat shoes.

Suffering for fashion? Ah yes, why on earth would you?

Why do you want to be eye-catching?

Well since I'm on crutches awaiting knee surgery I'd be pretty daft to wear heels so currently live in trainers but pre and hopefully post dodgy knees I'd wear wedges for dressing up and trainers at all other times. I would never wear shoes that were painful, stuff that.

I never think women look good hobbling around in high heels.
Comfort looks very good to me.

I have recently discovered loafers in a variety of colours which can look good with many different outfits.

In reply to a rather naff post I say suit yourself and suit the occasion.
This isn't a black or white issue!

Mary Jane’s in the summer, DM’s in the winter, walking boots all year round.

I don’t own a pair of shoes with a heel. I’m 5ft tall and always wear flats. I gave up wearing heels for best over 40 years ago choosing comfort over looks. It’s only fashion after all. In years to come people will look at photos and wonder how anyone could wear high heels.

I have two very comfy pairs of heels for special occasions they don’t need to be be uncomfortable. Maybe you need to get a better fitting pair of heels if yours are so uncomfortable.

There is a middle way as Kate Cambridge often shows, namely wedges , especially in summer.
I last wore high end heels at DD’s wedding 9 years ago and changed into more comfortable (but smart) shoes at the reception!
Since then Gabor or VanDal for heels or Hotter’s for low wedges.
And yes trainers (Skechers) for casual comfort.

I've never worn high heels but then I don't wear trainers either.
In winter I wear block heels or flats and in summer I wear sliders or low wedge heeled sandals.
