Love the thought of everyone in their smart cool shorts. My right leg is a mass of veins which are very unsightly but not enough of a problem for surgery. I won't inflict that sight on the unsuspecting public.

monica they sound very smart and cool and if you have nice legs why not wear them wherever you want. For myself I have terrible fat legs and cankles so its the long frocks and linen trousers for me - cut offs on the golf course although I see plenty of different shapes on there but its the golf that matters not the clothes.

I wear my shorts every day just above the knee, nicely fitted 2 denim and one fawn
Im lucky that I have quite ‘young’ legs a decent shape and no wrinkles or veins ( shame best part of my body is usually covered up ??) I love my shorts and hope to continue wearing until I feel the legs would offend the eye

I’ve got some longish denim shorts which I bought from Gap 25 years ago and still come out every year when it’s hot. They are super soft, faded and comfy perfect for garden. I do have some navy culottes from Uniqlo which come to mid calf and are super cool, airy with a soft waist band and look smart enough to go out in.

And they were only £15!

I have bought a lovely linen pair in a light Limey/pale mustard colour sounds odd but really nice colour . They are linen with a thin tie belt and are amazingly from M&S. They look so nice I wish I'd bought them in another colour. I bought them originally for a seaside holiday in August and have so far only worn them at home and the short walk to my daughters house, not into town but if the heat keeps going I may change my mind. If I say it myself I still have good legs at 65. My daughters say so too so I might be brave and wear them everywhere

I love my shorts and wear them a lot! The only prob is I’ve lost weight and have to have a belt to keep them up ?. I think need to buy some new ones.

As a long term lover and wearer of shorts all summer long, it was a sad year when I decided "enough was enough" that was some 7/8 years ago.
However having seen so many ladies wearing them this summer, yes in town too and a few of my own age .............whilst every man seems to be donning them!
I could be tempted!

Yours sound just the ticket *MOnica" very feminine and a lovely colour,if they look as nice on you.... with still good legs to show off...... I certainly feel you should wear them out as well.
Surely this is a summer of all summers, one to remember so as well as being comfy and responding to the heat,go on and enjoy them!!!
I wish I could!!

Monica I own two pairs of shorts, sort of just above the knee and I happily wear them "out". I was just thinking this week, I should buy another pair, my current shorts wardrobe is becoming boring (alternating navy one day, cream the next). smile.

It is such a treat wearing summer clothes day in day out. Long may it last sunshine

I would like to wear shorts but my legs have been hidden for years , the ad is for floaty dresses, full ankle length ?

M0nica Wed 25-Jul-18 07:54:42

I had no sooner posted this thread than the advert beside it changed from pension arrangements to 'comfy and soft flats'.

I haven't worn shorts for years, but in this heat, trousers are so hot.

They are 1950s style, tailored, dark navy but with a tie belt (not a draw string), with a skirt silhouette but clearly shorts. really quite smart

I have them on this morning and they are so cool. I am not sure whether I would wear them out, unless by the sea but for house and garden wear they are perfect. Thankfully my legs are still in good order and can stand scrutiny.
