There have been recent articles in the news, mentioning the new trend of having pockets in wedding dresses. If you had had pockets in your wedding dress, what would you have put in them?
I would have probably have ended up with my husbands car keys and his wallet,as that is what I end up carrying in my handbag now when we go out!!

I love pockets..it's often a decider on wether I buy or not! Dresses,skirts,trousers....
Didn't have a wedding dress as such....(maternity dress)...blush

Another non-lipstick wearer here. The only make up I ever wear is a little eye shadow and a slick of mascara; can't bear the feel of lipstick and foundations, powder etc on my skin.

M0nica, I'm with you in wanting decent, practical pockets in every day garments. Men can have them so why can't we?

This is such a good trend. In fact I had my wedding dress made for me and I don’t know why I didn’t ask for a pocket. It would have helped as I was getting over a cold on my wedding day and was sniffing during the ceremony. If only I had access to a tissue!

I would just like decent pockets in skirts, trousers, dresses and coats. I wear those far more often than I have ever worn a wedding dress. In fact if by wedding dress is meant one of those confections that is a cross between a merangue and a lamp shade, I have never worn one.

Me too, never worn make up of any sort, not in my wedding day or as mother of the bride.

humpty, no, you aren't. A friend once asked: "Not even on your wedding day?" Not even.

Unless you count lipsil, which I use all the time.

I had pockets in my wedding outfit - a pink dress and jacket - I don't remember having anything in them - don't know whether they actually opened! Nowadays all my pockets hold tissues - old lady nasal drip has suddenly developed shock

I wore lipstick for the very first time on my wedding day!

Alima Mon 17-Sept-18 13:38:08

No.

Am I the only (female!) GNer who never wears lipstick?!

The pockets are more a design feature on certain styles. If the dress has a natural waistline and a full skirt they seem to add loose pleats and side pockets are hidden away on the sides.

I can't imagine where a pocket would go in a traditional wedding dress - surely it would spoil the line?

A reticule would be a far more stylish idea - and much more practical than a bunch of flarze which have to be put down every five minutes.

A mobile phone, I could post selfies all day, check out social media, check my appearance using the camera and post live videos of the day.
Tongue in cheek obs but I bet it’s been done!

I had my mum there to carry spare lippy and tissues. Why have a dog and bark yourself?

stella1949 Mon 17-Sept-18 09:54:50

Why do nighties have pockets in them ? And now wedding dresses !

Teetime Mon 17-Sept-18 09:33:36

Pockets!!! Yes I agree they would have a phone and take selfies. Not for me although I wish I had had my running shoes on!

Luckygirl Mon 17-Sept-18 09:21:26

Condoms? - for the wedding dress pocket, not baby clothes! grin

Daddima Mon 17-Sept-18 07:20:51

Why do baby clothes have pockets?

ninathenana Mon 17-Sept-18 07:17:47

Alima Mon 17-Sept-18 07:04:34

If I had worn a wedding dress and if it had had pockets I would have had my ID card in one, Wrens, and fags and lighter in the other. Oh, happy days!

sodapop Mon 17-Sept-18 06:39:46

Now you are talking Jalima exactly what I would have in the pockets.

Jalima1108 Sun 16-Sept-18 23:05:26

Not if it was a photo of me paddyann grin
I just sent a tunic back that had very large pockets - I do not need the extra width!

As for the wedding dress pockets - yes, a mobile in one side and a hipflask of gin in the other one.

paddyann Sun 16-Sept-18 22:32:00

pockets have been on trend for a couple of years now, good for the photos
