Just treated myself to a cut and blow at top salon, it looked good in the salon, but is now flat to my head and that soft I cannot do anything with it. Should I shampoo. whatever products they have put on it out.

Have you got any dry shampoo?
Its really good for keeping a new 'do' going for a good few days.

Buffybee Sun 23-Dec-18 19:45:13

As Miss Adventure suggested, spray dry shampoo on the roots, blow dry, then a liberal spray of hair spray. John Freida,
Frizz ease is really good.
I also have a set of travel electric hair rollers that are great for adding body and bounce.

I don't do anything other than spray it and run my fingers through.
You can also use baking powder or talc.

There should be a Viagra shampoo.

I have a tub of hair wax. If I want to make my very short hair more spiky I just work it through my hair with my fingers to create more style and texture. Lots of good products in large supermarkets and chemists.

Thanks everyone. I am going to back comb and laquer until it is rigid tomorrow.??

Washing with toilet soap I find gets my hair literally squeaky clean rid of build up and then is has more body. I sleek on a little tiny blob of argan oil for shine as my white hair is very dry.

Lucky, my young hairdresser thinks it's hilarious when I say I want some laquer on.
Then another stylist will turn around and ask what I'd said and start giggling as well, then young junior pipes up, "What's laquer?".
And we all end up laughing away!
It makes me feel like a dinosaur but at least I keep them amused.

My hair is thick, fine and blows about, I have akways put laquer on but I realise it doesn't help. I tried it long and tied back, easiest of the lot but felt I was getting too old for it, it didn't quite match my face when it wasn't tied back but neither is this flat floppy Bob which looks great until fresh hair gets to it. It will be hats on for me until the spring and I can tie it back again. However according to popular belief I have now become invisible as no one looks at you after a certain age, but I do.?

Buffybee I always used John Frieda Frizz Ease hairspray, but can’t find it now.

toscalily Wed 26-Dec-18 17:24:16

When you do wash it try using volumiser products. I have fine, fly away straight hair and use the John Frieda products to give it some body. I have proberly tried most of the volumising shampoos etc., on the market some work better than others but these do seem to work for me. Tend to dry the hair out a bit so don't use them every time I wash my hair but mine would be totally flat otherwise, especially when it's damp.

Buffybee Wed 26-Dec-18 18:28:57

I get mine from Boots Auntieflo!

Hair mousse is brilliant for giving hair body and lift. Apply to damp hair, then dry as normal.

Bigred18 Thu 27-Dec-18 09:52:32

My hair is always flat after it gets professionally blowdried, so i always walk out of salon with wet hair and dry it myself when i get home - its the cut that matters! Dry shampoo amazing or sea spray powder for men.

Lucky use a volume shampoo, no conditioner, and rough dry hair with a towel.Leave for a while then with head upside down distribute hair mousse to the roots.Part dry with head upside down, then style as normal.

I have used Paul Mitchel shampoo now for several years plus Paul Mitchell hair boost and Paul Mitchell thicken up. I don't use conditioner at all as it makes my hair too soft. These products work for me. I have naturally curly hair and only need to go to the hairdresser once a week as I had a stroke 7 years ago and can't wash my hair myself.

I always get on well with Charles Worthington's volume range. My hair is very fine and tends to flop and I had had it in a bob for several years but then fancied a change all that blow drying was getting a bit tedious. Told my hairdresser and wow....she went for it. I've now got what's called a 'pixie' cut very short but somehow she's added texture by clever undercutting. Now its a quick wash and a dab of 'pixie paste' to add body and I'm off. No, I'm no spring chicken and do not have one of those cute little faces but honestly so many people have said its a brilliant cut and rather flattering (!) and its certainly a lot less trouble...if just a bit draughty on some days.

Isn't hair meant to be flat and floppy? Mine has never been anything else.

My motto is 'work with it', which is why I have neat flat floppy bobs, always with a fringe.

Anja Mon 28-Jan-19 16:39:44

I blame Brexit.

M0nica Mon 28-Jan-19 17:23:19

That is the one thing that makes my hair stand on end.

DanniRae Tue 29-Jan-19 16:04:56

How on earth does Donald Trump always keep his hair in place - even when he stands and waves from the top of the steps to get on a plane? Makes me growl (with envy).

Lots of backcombing and lacquer, from the look of it.

Remember he was part of the 60s generation. Remember back combing and aerosols of hair lacquer? I do.
