I always remember a bottle of Youth Dew on my sisters dressing table, plus my brother used Aramis. My dad used Old Spice. grin
As a teenager I used Charlie & Cachet - I even remember the magazine adverts for those!
But I look back most fondly on the little pots of cream perfume from Avon. I think I had every one.

What did you wear in your youth?

Liked back then and still like, Coty L`aimant, and Vanderbilt. When I was 16 I loved Norman Hartnell`s In Love, then a few years later I was introduced to Faberge`s Flambeau, I loved it, but it was discontinued. I now like Tocade, by Rocher.

My one and only love is Diorissimo. When I was 16 and we had a school dance a friend brought a bottle in, a gift to her mother, which she did not like, neither did my friend, so this tiny bottle became mine. It smells of lily of the valley.

I have had it on my dressing table ever since, however, a Christian Dior perfume is not for every day. I remember my mother wearing Elizabeth Arden, Blue Grass and Je reviens and my other scent from from long ago is 4711.

I still wear Blue Grass, and 4711 on occasion.

Been watching you all for a while, but this subject took me back 50 years! Aqua Manda! Loved it, thought I was so cool!

mazgoli Wed 10-Apr-19 10:09:20

Blase' was my absolute favourite, I think we all wore it at the youth club I went to - felt very sophisticated. Also Charlie Blue and occasionally Tweed. Those were the days!

Yes , Kiki was my favourite too, wish I could find it!

anti Wed 10-Apr-19 10:14:42

Meant to type Kiku!

Megs36 Wed 10-Apr-19 10:19:56

Norman Hartnells In love, thankyou Witzend! I have been trying to trace this for years, had a friend who always used it, you could follow her from room to room by the lovely smell; she sadly died over 30 years ago so I guess this perfume is long gone too.

Sara65 Wed 10-Apr-19 10:20:15

My best friend loved Kiku, she thought she was more sophisticated than me and my Aqua Manda! We used to pour it on!

Suede, Pagan and Le Train Bleu by Picot, came in tiny bottles but was powerful perfume. My boyfriend and his parents used to buy me Chanel No5. In the 60s DH used to be buy me a perfume that came in a pale blue box and had a wonderful powdery smell and sadly can't remember the name.

Also aqua manda - found a bottle in a charity shop a few years ago, bought it for sentimental value. also remember kiku and there was one in purple packaging/bottle, but cant think what it was called, remember my then fiance buying it for me for xmas just as we split up. Later years preferred anais anais. my nan loved 4711 eau de cologne

Does anyone remember Midnight by Dorothy Gray? I loved that in my teens.

Kandinsky Wed 10-Apr-19 10:37:12

Anyone remember white Linen?
It’s fairly old but still very much around.
I wore that in my 30’s.

Aepgirl Wed 10-Apr-19 10:39:52

Evening in Paris. We thought it was so sophisticated back then.

Sielha Wed 10-Apr-19 10:42:06

How about “Smitty’!!

Margs Wed 10-Apr-19 10:43:12

Aqua Manda - whatever happened to it? It was a chain store essence and despite being cheapo (and therefore affordable when I was a teenager) it had a memorable orangey tang that wasn't acrid and overpowering.

Pure 1960's. Lovely.

every Christmas, when I was small, my mother gave me a tiny bottle of Phul Nana from Woolworths. I adored it. Such a happymemory.

Kandinsky Wed 10-Apr-19 10:44:48

Oh crikey smitty.
Now that takes me back grin

My mum wore Apple Blossom and it obviously did live up to its name - whenever I walk through apple trees in spring it evokes memories of her smile
For me growing up it was Charlie, which I seem to remember had the added benefit of repelling mosquitoes!

kandinsky Estée Lauder White Linen is gorgeous. I can’t afford it now but always look for a tester if I go to Boots and put plenty on.

Willow10 Wed 10-Apr-19 10:53:09

I still buy Charlie - Red, Blue and Gold - in Boots, for everyday use. Also wore Coty L'aimant and Hartnell In Love.

jeapurs54 Wed 10-Apr-19 10:57:32

Kiku was a favourite of mine and Rive Gauche but when I looked at Rive Gauche recently the price scared me over £50.

jeapurs54 Wed 10-Apr-19 11:02:03

I recently was having a clear out of some old boxes and found a bar of 4711 soap, not sure if the smell would still be there although still in its wrapper, may put on antique road show smile

Annaram1 Wed 10-Apr-19 11:02:30

I too loved Tweed. Is it still around?
My mum adored Evening in Paris with its blue and silver bottle and the label with the Eiffel Tower. Sadly I think it is discontinued now.
