I’ve had an email today saying they are starting up again . I do hope the quality is as good as it was before as I loved their stuff.

So pleased. I have lots of necklaces and ear-rings from East although no clothes which I thought were lovely but way overpriced.

I have just read that it will be an Online business only, selling more sustainable clothing. Now owned by Monsoon. Meant to be launching mid June. Hooray.

Hopefully this is the correct link to sign up www.east.co.uk/password

I shopped in both East and Monsoon and have always been entirely happy with the quality of their clothes. I didn't shop in East often but I have had one of their dresses in my wardrobe for over 6 years, wear it regularly and expect to be wearing it for some years to come. Much the same applies to Monsoon.

Less than happy it will be online only. I like to look, feel and try on clothes before buying. I really cannot be bothered with unparcelling and parcelling up again and traipsing to the post office or some collection centre miles away with returns.

Have just read BGranniel's link and am very disappointed to see that one of Monsoon's designers is involved. East's clothes were just so much more wearable and stylish than Monsoon.

Wonderful news! I've not had the message yet though I was on their mailing list.

Nonnie Fri 07-Jun-19 13:49:03

I must try them again because the only 2 things I ever bought were very poor quality, Sounds like I was just unlucky. Only ever bought one thing from Monsoon and that fell apart. Sorry folks, maybe I should steer clear and leave it to people who have better luck!

Good news! I always loved their cotton maxi dresses, linen cardigans, merino midi cardies.
I’m classless - refuse to be put into a little box! ?

Bother just checked and link didn't work so here is the article copied.
Womenswear retailer East is relaunching online next month with a focus on sustainability, after it was bought out of administration by Monsoon Accessorize founder and chief executive officer Peter Simon.
East fell into administration in January 2018 for the second time in less than three years, blaming tough trading for the collapse. Simon acquired the retailer in May 2018 under his company Drillgreat Group.
East will relaunch online in mid-June, offering bohemian-inspired womenswear, accessories and homeware. There are no store openings in the pipeline, but the brand is planning to open wholesale accounts and may launch childrenswear in the future.
Retail prices will range from £59 for a top to £299 a printed silk kimono.
Earlier this year Simon hired the head of design at Monsoon, Caroline Jackson, as East’s brand director. She will oversee the brand’s creative direction, through the use of sustainable fabrics and products, while remaining in her role at Monsoon.

Great news! Instantly did a search and found the following - it says online and as others said owned by Monsoon. Fingers crossed!

Hope the link works!

My ’go to’ brands are Fat Face, Manteray in Debenhams and Joe Brown. Occasionally H and M and M and S.
Comfortable and stylish pieces to cover up lumps and bumps.
I will investigate East though. It sounds perfect for me.
Thank you for the recommendation.

Can’t wait to stock up again, some of my east clothes have seen better days, like the slightly faded blue linen top, I have on today!

luluaugust Fri 07-Jun-19 11:45:58

Best news I've had today.

Overthehills Fri 07-Jun-19 11:17:27

? GillT57!

Middle class me loves East!

edsnana Fri 07-Jun-19 10:40:43

I think East is now owned by Monsoon so maybe some of their shops will stock East items? Hope so!

Rowantree Fri 07-Jun-19 10:34:55

I used to love East. Found them pricey but loved the ethnic inspired patterns and colours. I still have many of their clothes but then my MIL spoiled it by saying she thought them 'frumpy' (she is in her 90s!). I still find bits on eBay. I will watch with interest and hope they re-launch, but I'm trying to buy fewer new clothes these days in an effort to fade my enormous carbon footprint, so I tend to buy second-hand where possible.
Thanks for the heads-up!

sweetcakes Fri 07-Jun-19 10:15:33

Never heard of them!

winifred01 Fri 07-Jun-19 10:10:28

So pleased to learn East is to return, how do we find more details?

GillT57 Fri 07-Jun-19 10:08:36

As opposed to the people's champion Primark GG54?

HannahLoisLuke Fri 07-Jun-19 10:05:26

I'm glad East is coming back too, although I did find that the clothes became rather 'samey'
Loved the colours though.
My Best Buy from them was an ankle length fine wool embroidered evening coat with black background.
Started at £368 which I couldn't afford. Waited and watched as the price reduced in the sales and when it reached £55 I pounced!
That was about twenty years ago and I still have it.
Trouble is, because it's so distinctive I can't wear it very often.

avalon Fri 07-Jun-19 10:04:08

Hooray! Does someone have a link I can use to send my email to East?

GabriellaG54 Thu 06-Jun-19 21:33:52

Oh no...the middle class saviour.

kittylester Wed 05-Jun-19 07:46:47

I hope they do the lovely summer bags.

Monica, I know which Landsend Jeans should fit me but I can never guarantee that they will.

M0nica Wed 05-Jun-19 07:19:53

I loved East and still have several garments in my wardrobe and wear them frequently. I do hope it has shops. I dislike shopping online, unless it is something basic like jeans where I know Landsend sells jeans that fit me.

Sara65 Wed 05-Jun-19 07:05:06

Madgran

We have a mistral near us, I like their clothes too, but East was always my favourite shop as I got older, I hope it won’t have changed too much
