Sleeveless dresses

Evie64 Thu 13-Jun-19 23:34:04

Yup, high heels and closely fitted clothes. The sight of me now in a fitted pencil skirt and sleeveless blouse would bring everyone to tears, including me! Oh, and loons and hippy tops with multi coloured platform shoes from Ravels. Happy daze eh?

zenakate Thu 13-Jun-19 22:40:59

Platform shoes ?

Florida12 Thu 13-Jun-19 22:28:51

High heels
Short shorts

SparklyGrandma Thu 13-Jun-19 20:58:56

A smaller size bra. I was always a DD cup, but oh my poor back, I am now a GG cup. Sigh.

Mistymorningstar Thu 13-Jun-19 20:56:12

Sleeveless dresses, stiletto shoes, short dresses when on holidays, shorts, bikini bathing suits, and stay up lace top stockings.

Gangang Thu 13-Jun-19 20:12:33

I miss wearing high heels, short skirts and dresses as opposed to rather longer ones (below the knees) and sleeveless tops and dresses. However, there are other flattering designs for ‘mature’ ladies which would not look good on the younger ones!

Bagatelle I was thinking the same thing, a full cover up is preferable but - hey ho - my lovely DH doesn't seem to mind so (apart from shorts) I will suffer from flabby arms, tummy and 'orrible fat knees. Sound lovely don't I??

I miss wearing anything with a waist. Although I was never a skinny girl I did have a small waist before I had children, and it wasn't too bad for quite a lot of years after that.

Then, in my fifties, I had a major abdominal operation which left me potato shaped. The last time I went to outpatients I asked my surgeon "do you think I should be doing any exercises to get my shape back?" He said "I wouldn't bother". I asked "Well, when do I get to see the small waistline I haven't seen for the last few years?" He said "In the next life!"

I don’t dislike any aspect of my body ....and often go without a bra. Hated them since first time I wore them but my mother made me ‘conform’. Never wear them at home now, and always wear short sleeves in summer. Stop trying to conform to what the media thinks we should look like! I write my own rules now.

High heels and mini skirts.

HillyN Thu 13-Jun-19 19:02:40

I'm taller than my OH hence I've never worn heels, so I don't miss those. I wear anything abroad as no-one knows me so who cares? Having said that I can't find a bikini I feel comfortable wearing. I wouldn't wear sleeveless tops/dresses in the UK though, and prefer cropped trousers to shorts due to the wad of fat and thread veins on the inner side of my knees.

dizzygran Thu 13-Jun-19 18:55:08

bikinis - one pieces now.

suziewoozie Thu 13-Jun-19 18:50:21

Mary Quant - I still wear this rain poncho of hers which is apparently in the V and A Mary Quant Collection. Note the sleeves

harrysgran Thu 13-Jun-19 18:41:16

High heeled shoes I always, think they look much smarter but I've reached an age when I need comfort and I'm yet to find a comfortable shoe with a high heel

dirgni Thu 13-Jun-19 18:24:17

Hot pants and dungarees!

KatyK Thu 13-Jun-19 18:23:33

Oh all that Mary Quant stuff. I had her hair style ( well sort of, mine was a bit thin). I loved mini skirts, white knee length boots, cheesecloth shirts. All that black and white stuff, Dusty Springfield eyes. smile

Sheilasue Thu 13-Jun-19 17:51:34

Sleeveless dresses, tailored suits, short skirts, dolly rocker shoes. Oh for the 60s again.

Stella14 Thu 13-Jun-19 17:36:33

A nice bra. My boobs now need some serious scaffolding!

marpau Thu 13-Jun-19 17:06:35

Definitely miss high heels I wore 4" all the time with 5" for nights out.
also miss wearing anything with a fitted waist since mine went missing during the menopause never to be seen again! Lol

Glammy57 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:56:34

I miss my size 8/10 figure, now a size 14 top/12 lower half. I used to love wearing pencil skirts but now it’s dresses never skirts. I have never been one to show cleavage but I’m happy with my arms - twenty-five years of lifting light weights! Still love high heels for dressing up, but usually wedges these days. I always take pain killers before donning a heel over two inches! ?

Nanabanana1 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:56:25

High heels, used to wear them all day, not now though, arthritis in big toe joints ?

Ffion63 Thu 13-Jun-19 16:48:26

Dresses, jumpsuits and anything which zips up the back as I have a dodgy shoulder! I need to make sure my hubbie is with me to unzip which knocks out jumpsuits and going to the ladies.

Grandmama Thu 13-Jun-19 16:48:02

A year or two ago a newspaper picture of Anna Wintour revealed flabby arms. Quite thin arms but yes, bingo wings. Cheered me up no end.

Alypoole Thu 13-Jun-19 16:45:54

Me too Buffybee! My arms literally changed overnight. VERY occasionally wear sleeveless when abroad but never when at home. Horrible crepey flabby arms.

Aepgirl Thu 13-Jun-19 16:44:47

Indon’t Like my upper arms - and not just mine. I hate seeing flabby underarms of older women.
