Sleeveless dresses

Sandieanne Thu 13-Jun-19 12:53:47

A strapless dress. I do wonder why Marks and Spencer and the like don't produce a range of dresses with a sleeve. There is such a gap in the market for this sort of design.

I miss wearing mini skirts & short shorts. Ahhhh, those were the days!!

I don't care about what other people think, but I do care about what I think. And I'm happier knowing that I look my best. It's nothing whatsoever to do with confidence and more to do with pride in my appearance.

Mittens with a string connecting them

janywoo Thu 13-Jun-19 12:49:26

Eyeliner and mascara, my eyes water and get itchy, if I try.

I've worked hard on my arms to keep them toned, but still have the 'muscle wastage' ripples and don't like to show them. I wear the light shrug type cardigans over sleeveless dresses.

I miss high heeled shoes too, used to have the most beautiful pink pointy toed high heels I felt fabulous in.

I do wear what I like - liking means liking what I look like in what I’m wearing and I don’t like my flabby upper arms. I don’t think firming them up is as simple as Phoebes makes it sound.

whywhywhy Thu 13-Jun-19 12:45:13

Really high heels. I used to wear them all the time but now that I am in my 60s I find them so uncomfortable. Alas I have some fantastic shoes to give away one day.......

polnan Thu 13-Jun-19 12:43:33

bare legs, I have lots of red thin veins round my ankles etc.

Phoebes Thu 13-Jun-19 12:41:10

I don’t see why we shouldn’t wear whatever we like as long as we do it with confidence. If we have bits we don't like, we could do something to remedy that eg, lose weight, tighten up the flab, cover up thread veins etc. It doesn’t matter what other people think anyway! Who cares!

ReadyMeals Thu 13-Jun-19 12:34:18

When I was in my 20s I had a couple of lovely dresses in a soft drapey brushed cotton, with frills at the neck ans skirt. One fuschia pink and one in airforce blue. And a couple of skirts in tiers. They looked young, almost childlike, but I used to look young for my age so it was ok on me.

Poppyred Thu 13-Jun-19 12:25:45

Newgran2019 - some people don’t care what they look like, others do. It’s down to self confidence I think.

sarahellenwhitney Thu 13-Jun-19 12:24:50

Anything sleeveless. Not even short sleeves which leaves me limited during the summer to wearing long sleeved blouses /shirts rolled to the elbow. Any thing past elbow is a no go area.

Davida1968 Thu 13-Jun-19 12:22:35

The bare arms option, I think, but nothing else! These days I just love wearing leggings, jeans, and nice long tops. Certainly this was not possible when I was working. And there is so much more clothing available in plus sizes now - virtually zilch (other than "old lady" polyester crap stuff) when I was a young woman.

Gonegirl Thu 13-Jun-19 12:16:52

Dresses that go in at the middle. I no longer have a middle.

harrigran Thu 13-Jun-19 12:11:04

Sleeveless dresses, short skirts and high heels. Never really been able to wear bikinis but now I am dubious about one piece as well.

winterwhite Thu 13-Jun-19 12:09:51

High heels. No contest

annifrance Thu 13-Jun-19 12:00:24

High heels, bikinis and thongs.

Theoddbird Thu 13-Jun-19 11:48:37

Don't remember wearing sleeveless dresses even when really slim. I miss being able to without a bra. All that time breast feeding...hahaha

newgran2019 Thu 13-Jun-19 11:47:47

I don't much like my flabbier arms and wrinkly elbows either, but am disappointed that so many ladies refuse to wear sleeveless items because of them; many women years younger than me wear skin-tight clothes with VPLs or crotch-high slits, or are just overweight, and that seems to be accepted! Why is it such a faux pas?smile

jaylucy Thu 13-Jun-19 11:45:47

High heels
In my teens and twenties I used to wear 3 inch heels every day.
When I married, my husband was only a couple of inches taller than me, the 3 inch went and dropped down to no more than 2 inches
We divorced, so at least the 3 inch heels came out at weekends! But unfortunately I had a fall after missing a step in the dark and damaged ligaments in my left ankle, as well as my knee so it's back to no more than 2 inches, pref wedges!

LuckyFour Thu 13-Jun-19 11:34:22

That's the first thing I thought of Sooziewoozie. My arms are flabby and chubby although I weigh less than 10 stone. I look ok in dresses but usually try to have longish sleeves.

goldengirl Thu 13-Jun-19 09:51:02

I prefer longer skirts /dresses and lower heels. I don't like shorts - but never have. I'm not a slim person but I enjoy clothes and am not afraid of buying a larger size if its something I like. If we enjoy wearing something that's all that matters. Why do you have to be young to enjoy shopping for clothes? I buy a fair bit from QVC where you can try the clothes in your own home with a 30 day money back guarantee if you return them within the time period. No ghastly changing rooms!!!

travelsafar Thu 13-Jun-19 09:01:55

My sister and i often say when clothes shopping 'Oh to be young slim and beautiful' There are so many lovely clothes around nowadays, reasonable prices and wonderful fabrics it must be heavenly to shop as a young person. smile

Maggiemaybe Thu 13-Jun-19 08:18:15

Correction - like many of you, not most.
