Hi all and thank you for your kind replies. I had my hair cut yesterday and it is now a lot shorter on the top. I also bought some Bedhead and so far so good. Much quicker to dry just using hairdrier and fingers.

I use a volumizing mousse on my thin fine hair. Bedhead is the best make I've found
(thanks again kitty smile)

I use a Wella volumising mousse before I blow dry my hair. But I do wash every day

onaclear day Perhaps you need to have the top layer cut shorter, not longer. My hair is fine and soft and straight. If it grows long enough for the top layer to lie over the other layers, it all gets flattened, but if it is all the same length all over, each layer gets a chance to spring up without being weighed down from above.

Have you tried dry shampoo?
I think the trouble with fine hair when its in good condition is that its so flat!
Mine was better with highlights as the bleach stripped it.

My hair is baby fine and straight and not much of it, it's been the bane of my entire life, the only way I can cope with it is to keep my hair in a very short style, I do use a mild conditioner otherwise it flys away and has static. My hair dresser 'chip' cuts it - I don't know what that means though, I also use a lightweight mouse for styling and dry it for a long time. sometimes you can think your hair is dry and it is not - hence causing hair to fall flat. I also use a small amount of wax type product, rub a small amount between my fingers and run it my hair

My hair is a nice silvery colour and in good condition though I rarely use conditioner. I cannot seem to get any volume in it. It is quite short with longer layers on the top. I have tried blow drying sprays but they don't seem to make any difference. I don't like using gel as I dislike the feeling of it on my hair and have to wash it every day when used. It is just so soft and floppy. Currently I wash is every second day. Any advice please?
