Summer’s over! (I hope)

I am with Maw, Autumn is absolutely my favourite season and cuddling into winter clothes and putting away summer clothes is all part of it. I wonder if it is coincidental that the colours I look best in are autumn colours all those rich browns/yellows/orange/reds. And those are the colours in fashion this year

Where I live in Oxfordshire, the weather is not yet chill enough for winter clothes so summer clothes still dominate my wardrobe, but I have two delicous new sweaters from Woolovers waiting to be worn and two new pairs of shoes. Another sweater and a pair of trousers and jeggings and my winter wardrobe is complete, but I hope to have a day in York in early October, so those will have to wait until then.

I did walk through M&S yesterday, it was between a meeting venue and the railway station. All their jeggings (and leggings) were high waisted, which for me means either a comfortable fit under the armpits or a baggy bottom, I need drop waisted to get a good fit over the bottom and into he waist.

I love summer, but also welcome winter, because I don`t have to live in terror of insects and creepy crawlies for a few blessed months!

sarah bring on spring 22 what’s happened to 20 and 21 ?

Big change in the weather here today. We are going to Devon for a few days next week, I have no idea what to take, will I be freezing in dresses and flip flops, or boiling in boots and Woolies?

Husbands idea to take some of each, but that seems such a lot of fuss, I’ll see what it’s like in the morning.

I love Indian Summers, sometimes better than the actual summer, the last week has been glorious, golden days bathed in sunshine wonderful temperature. Alas today it's a lot greyer, but well that's to be expected such weather can't last. I don't look forward to winter, except those sunny crisp frosty days and we are told to expect a bad one this year sad but we have Autumn just around the corner and all the wonderful trees colours first.

Nights drawing in, no early morning birdsong, bring on spring 22.

I shall hang on until the last vestiges of summer. I was out today, between showers, in a skimpy top and shorts (20 degrees) while, because it was a bit wet, there were folk in full winter wet weather gear ?. They must have been roasting. Winter will be long enough when it comes so oodles of time to rug-up!

This thread seems to tie in with another about what we spend on clothes.

Suppose if we bought less we would not need to send so much to charity shops.

MawB, are you really wishing summer's over? How could you! However I'm glad I won't have to hear any more of the "hottest day since records began" malarkey. I shout back "it depends where you live you daft eeejit"
And that coatigan is gorgeous. Tomorrow I'm going to pop down the road to my local Seasalt and look at the autumn collections. Thanks for the headsup!

It’s still warm here but with showers, I’m not going into trousers, jumpers just yet. I have had a clear out of things I’ve not worn for a year.

NotSpaghetti Sun 22-Sept-19 17:18:33

I like linen all year... just wear it with jumpers in the winter!
Wish I could be as disciplined as you with the clear-out though.

This one smile

A last hurrah yesterday -wasn't lovely?
But today we’ve had much lower temperatures, rain, even thunder and I have taken an executive decision to pack away the summer clothes - the linens, the t shirts, the white trousers!
Suddenly I feel the need for sleeves and darker trousers. Can’t wait to wear my new Seasalt coatigan either.
I am rediscovering some of my cooler weather clothes and have already filled two big bags for the charity shop for jumpers I don’t even remember wearing last year.
All very liberating!
