Any recommendations for pretty and supportive bras that hold in those awful underarm and back fat bits?

Oh for the longline bras of yesteryear!
Shaper pants even if high waisted roll down, I don’t want to wear a whole “suit of armour” but the bit between boobs and waist/hips remains stubbornly muffin topped.

This original post was almost 3 years ago. I'm still watching with interest...

Can anyone recommend a bra that holds in the side boobs for us big busted ladies?

Another fan of amplebosom here! I have been buying from them over 20 years, and they are very helpful.

If you are near Poole go into Mabel and Jacks. They are brilliant.

Gillyknits and Daisyboots - I believe either stretch cups or moulded bras are usually suggested for breasts of different cup sizes. I was trying to help a friend with this problem and in the end she found one that worked with a type of memory foam in the cups. May have been a Wacol bra?

This thread is great, I hate wearing a bra and I cannot wear one with underwire at all as it just hurts no matter who fits it. I am going to M&S asap! x

,Gillyknits I have the same problem as you with different size boobs. A real problem.

When I was a young teenager my DM took me to be fitted for a bra at the local department store. The fitter said to always stand and let your boobs drop into the cups for the most comfortable fit. I have been doing that for 63 years and it does work even with my uneven boobs.

Miss Mary of Sweden, no wires, front fastening and non slip straps. Pretty, effective and flattering.

I used to go to rigby and peller, apparently they do the queen’s bras. Very expensive, but they know what they’re doing. Now I can’t bear wearing underwired ones for long. Or any or them, really. First thing I do when I get home is whip it off!

I am a fan of Rigby and Peller, yes they are expensive as others have said, but the comfort, support and shape is worth every single £.

Bravissimo is also good, and their matching knickers are much cheaper than R & P

You need a bra with side supports such as Fantasie. This enables you to 'swoop and scoop' all your breast tissue (from round the sides) into the cup, hence no side bulges. I also agree with the post about Boob or Bust, most of us are wearing a band too big and a cup too small.

gillyknits Sat 01-Feb-20 17:59:41

My problem is that one breast is a full cup size bigger than the other. I either have one side a bit empty or the larger one escapes over the bra top and I end up with three lumps! Haven’t found any bra to solve the problem. I can’t wear under wired because I have a high rib cage.
Jus re-read this and think like I must sound like I am Quasimodo’

Sooze58 Sat 01-Feb-20 17:09:43

Fantasie bras - really good side support!

Try Figleaves website.

Don’t go to M&S. they add 4 inches to your band size. They measured me at 34DD for years and I kept hitching the band down at the back and falling out the front. Turns out I’m a 30G! Measure under your boobs for a indication of your band size. If it measures 34 inches, start with a 34 band and go up cup sizes until all your breast tissue stays put. Get your hands in and scoop all your breast tissue into the cups.
I personally like the Fantasie bras. Very pretty. I refuse to do dull bras!

Nothing beats Rigby and Peller fitting imo and I’m saving up to go there again.

This company is excellent - very good advice by phone and you can try and return if sizing not perfect. Suitable for all shapes and sizes ☺️ www.amplebosom.com

Does anyone no how to measure saggy boobs?
Our nearest bra measuring shop has just closed and as I live in a very small town the nearest one is a 70 mile round trip!
Thank you

Get it fitted by an expert and be prepared to pay a bit more. I bought a, properly fitted, bra then got identical ones on line much cheaper! At least i knew they would fit!

mariella22 Sat 01-Feb-20 12:24:26

Get fitted in a store . I did in MnS last year and it gave me confidence. I wanted a nicer shape under jumpers and t shirts after wearing baggy ones to camouflage ??..
The assistant took one look and smiled and said . ....I know just the style . Wow ! Have such a nice shape now and no excess under arms . £22 pounds I think and choice of matching briefs Go get your appointment . It s the best

I love Marks and Spencer's under wired bras. Very pretty and keep everything in place.

Americanpie Sat 01-Feb-20 11:46:21

I went to Bravissimo in Glasgow and they asked if I'd got an appointment! The assistant then said that it was a 30 minute wait for a fitting or I could try on my regular size without advice from anyone. I left and went to Debenhams and the ladies advised me to take my time and try on at least five in different styles and makes. I ended up buying a Fantasie bra. I'm a 38FF and mainly buy now from Brastop over the net. Great services, easy returns and cheap. No lingerie shops near me on the west coast of Scotland.
