I try to buy shampoo and conditioner that has not been tested on animals. I find Aldi's own brand perfectly satisfactory. M&S also have products not animal tested and if you are as fussy as I am, you can find products on line too.

You can buy the shampoo your hairdresser uses online.

Just ask what it's called.

Mine tends to use Keratese which is my shampoo of choice! It is more expensive but there is a difference. It's not all in my head ... literally!!

I have also used the Aussie stuff which I like. Their labels are amusing to read as well.

I can’t praise Elvive ‘low’ shampoo too highly! It costs £7 but you don’t need conditioner and it lasts for weeks. It’s supposed to be for 2 - 3 times a week but I use it all the time and my hairdresser always comments on what good condition my hair is in, since I have bleached highlights and longish hair.

As my hair looked and felt better after a salon visit I bought the shampoo they used instead of my usual mid priced. Washing it at home did not look or feel as good as the salon so I dont think its the shampoo that makes the difference. Back to my mid priced or whatever is on offer.

I do use a clarifying shampoo sometimes, it cleans old shampoo and conditioner build up and looks good after using.

Give up shampoo altogether - if you google co-washing (short for conditioner-only washing) you’ll get lots of tips.

Don't know. I gave up using anything that came in a plastic container ( as far as possible) a long time ago.

There are chemicals in shampoos, they probably differ with each brand.
I only use organic shampoos, which are chemical free and gentle. They also have lovely natural plant extracts, smelling lovely.

For about five years I have been using shampoo I buy from my salon, expensive but no complaints about how my hair looks. Due to lockdown running short so used a regular shampoo for coloured hair. I was quite shocked by how the moisture felt sucked out of my hair. In the future I'm going to have to econonomise Hoping for some tips from fellow gransnetters. Are salon shampoos any different? Are there any cheaper alternatives that are as good? My hair was short and highlighted but has a tendency to be greasy.
