What has happened to M & S sizes?

Long long ago I was size 12R in M&S trousers and never needed to try them on in the shop as they always fitted . I’m sure that I didn’t shrink but over time became 12S .

I haven’t bought any trousers for several years now as I no longer work in an office and now love NYDJ petite jeans ? which always fit .

If we are ever allowed to try on clothes again in a shop I might try them just to see how they fit now , just for old times’ sake!

Oh, I’m glad if straight leg jeans are ‘in’ this year.

I have been wearing them for years, whether ‘in’ or ‘out’.

They’re ridiculous. I’m 5’ and used to get their short length stuff. For the last few years the jeans and trousers have been so long I can’t imagine what their regular length ones are like. I’ve given in with them.

I have always found M&S sizing erratic - and that is going back 50 years.

I bought a couple of petite joggers from Next in 2019 great fit and washed well. Ordered couple more pairs online what I thought were the same last year and they were a terrible fit. I was a bit annoyed because I’d waited a month before they were back in stock. Needless to say they went straight back.

I've just sent two pairs of M&S trousers back because of their erratic sizing.

For the past few years I have always worn size 16 in long length from them, but recently I haven't been able to find a pair that fits. I thought I'd cracked the problem by ordering two pairs in different sizes and leg lengths! When they arrived the size 16 was too tight, the size 18 was miles too big and baggy. The regular length which according to their website is 31" was too short (when I measured them they were 29") and the long length were 33" and too long. hmm.

My friend bought a pair of black trousers in store just before this lockdown and liked them so much that she decided to buy another pair in a different colour, but same size and length. They bear no resemblance to her original pair!

It’s the waist sizes that make me laugh. A 10 or 12 these days would have been a 16 or 18 in my youth. Vanity sizing, but to be fair, not just M&S is guilty of this.

I usually buy my jeans from M&S as I’m also 5’2’’. I haven’t bought any recently though. What frustrates me is that their petite dresses although shorter in length are not altered in proportion to the length, if that makes sense? I have been looking for a midi dress in petite for ages but been unsuccessful.

I’m 5’2” and have worn M & S short length jeans for years.
I bought a pair of straight leg jeans (apparently they are in this year) in the sale, my usual size, but they are just too long, so will have to be returned.
Anyone else had this problem?
