Style inspiration - where to turn?

When I am doing a redecoration project at home I turn to House and Garden or Homes and Gardens. Some other magazines have inspiring pictures too. But for clothes?! Style and elegance have been hijacked by street fashion (Doc Martens with a tea dress anyone.). Good old Good Housekeeping used to do “Look for a Lifestyle”. Where do other Gransnetters get their inspiration? I am 65, if I wear street fashion I look like a bag lady. I want to come out of Lockdown’s cocoon delighted by what I have morphed into. Not despairing.

Don't do 'fashion' per se. Tend towards classical, stylish, smart and colourful. Don't even know what the 'in' trend is thank goodness. Seems to me carte blanche is the order of the day which gives you maximum scope. Good luck and enjoy researching your eventual wardrobe.

I quite like the Doc Martens with a tea dress look. No idea where to look for inspiration though so I’m no help whatsoever. Sorry.

Search the internet for 'fashion for over 50 UK' - there are loads of websites run by older bloggers. I don't always like their style or want to dress like them but sometimes get some inspiration for a different way to wear something. There are loads of websites, and they're not all tall, skinny women. Far more interesting than looking through shop websites, and they can introduce you to new shops and websites.

I look at people that are my sort of age and size and copy any that I think look good.

Bit difficult at the moment as it is just people going for a walk or in a supermarket.

I just go on gut feeling. It’s mostly successful. At least I think it is. Not Doc Martens with a tea dress though. Not at my age. ?

Pinterest is a good resource.plenty of style ideas for ‘over 50s’, ‘over60s’, ‘older women’, etc.

I enjoy the Midlife Chic style blog (can’t find a link but I’m sure it can be found on a google search). It’s written by a very stylish woman who tries on clothes and takes photos of her outfits. She always looks fabulous and well put together.

Have a look at That's not My Age website for ideas, too.

I like Midlifechic as well Whingingmom, she makes good choices for clothes I’d actually wear, and she seems such a nice person as well.
