I had a consultation at Lucinda Ellery’s studio in Manchester years ago, but didn’t go ahead as I was put off by several negative reviews at the time. Perhaps I should have been bolder - there were plenty of good reviews at the time, but I’m always swayed by the few bad ones!

I used to go down to Mark Glenn in central London regularly for specialist extensions to make my very fine, thin hair look thicker. I’d trust Mark and his team implicitly, and met some women there who’d had amazing results from his integration system. Eventually, having to get the train down to London from Yorkshire every 12 weeks for maintenance got to be a chore and I decided to settle for the simple short cut I still have.

I’d be interested in any recommendations for the North of England though.

Yes it's expensive and there is no help out there or no sympathy really. I have my system taken off, my scalp conditioned and put back on every 6 weeks. That visit costs about £75 which is no more than some people pay for a normal hairdresser visit. I then pay £1800 every 18 months.
I am lucky to be able to afford it, I realise some can't. However, losing all my hair and knowing it will never grow back was devastating. It was ruining my life. It was the final straw in a long line of traumatic events in my life.
The people at the clinic are wonderful.

I too lost mine with chemo. It was curly before but now it is thinner and dead straight. I must look into hair integration.

I am most interested to learn about the glued on hair - I so agree with the loss of hair being devastating. I lost mine with chemo and found that to be almost the worst part of the whole treatment. I paid €700 for a wig but although it looked good it was so uncomfortable and moved when I put on coats etc. Eventually I just wore turbans as the places I went to everyone knew about my condition.
How often do you need to renew the system - it sounds so good. My hair has regrown but is not as thick as it was previously.

Greciangirl It is a system whereby they can attach hair to your own hair to make it thicker. It's different from extensions and is usually used for people suffering hair loss.

What is hair integration?

Hello. I don't have an integration system as you need some hair to attach it to and I have alopecia totalis (no hair).
However, after much stress and strife, I found a wonderful clinic and I have a hair 'system'. It is attached with glue which horrified me at first but it's fine. It's fabulous to look at. It wouldn't move in gale force winds. You wash it, style it, curl it like ordinary hair.
I wasn't going out and spent all day crying and looking for options. If I were you, and you can afford it, I would look into it. Hair loss is devastating. No one, even doctors, don't understand. Have you seen your GP to see if there's an underlying cause?
