Favourite Bra discontinued

My favourite bra has been discontinued. I have bought the same t-shirt bra from Bon Marche for the last few years. It is the best fitting bra I have ever had. They now seem to have discontinued it and I need to find a similar one. I am hoping that you knowledgeable ladies out there can help.

www.bonmarche.co.uk/bras/2-pack-underwired-t-shirt-bra-159999.html

The bra was underwired and padded with smooth cups. The larger sizes had a three hook band. The wires went up at the outside rather than fanning out, which gave me a better shape. I hope that makes sense.

I don't have huge boobs but I have a broad back which means I am a 40B (which is hard to find) or a 38C. I have always had trouble with bras.

I bought quite a few replacement bras recently but they never seem to lie flat between the cups, or the cups are too wide. I want a seam free cup with no lace in nude and also white.

M&S seem to have a new range out. Has anyone tried them? M&S bras have never suited me in the past.

Thanks in advance

M and S have a lovely soft, seamless bra, not padded though, with a three fastener. Very comfortable. Two for £16, but only in black and skin colour.

I had a fitting at M&S but wasn't very pleased with the result.

At the moment I am wearing my only comfortable bra. When I found out the BHS were closing, I went round the shops buying up my favourite bra. I've only got one left now and I would be embarrassed if anyone saw how tatty it is.

I bought some of the pull on sports bras but even they feel tight by the end of the day.

I feel your pain.
I have 47 bras in my drawer. Always trying to find a perfect comfortable fit. Even when I’ve been professionally measured it hasn’t worked!
I will follow this thread with interest.

Triumph is my go to for this type of bra..I too have a wide back and small frontage…about £ 35 so not cheap but they have matching undies as well….

My sympathies, I've just discovered Sorel won't be making my preferred model of snow boots anymore.

I need to buy a bra, I'm down to one! Luckily dries overnight.

We men don't know how lucky we are. Our only item of intimate apparel doesn't really have to do a lot. My late first wife - we were married 47 years ago yesterday - whom I had met at 18, was well into her twenties before she found a bra that fitted. She had clearly queued up twice on the day they gave out bosoms, and hated hers, which encouraged the sort of laddish comments most of you rightly loathe. She would be the first to tell you, though, that that was not what attracted me. Sorry, chaps, if that's all you see in a girl you may not be much of a prospect.

In her later years she found the M&S undie counsellor at Tunbridge Wells to be very helpful, and continued to use their service even after we moved to France.

I hope PinkCosmos has some luck in finding something truly comfortable.

Thank you for your comments. I Googled the Bon Marche bra so that I could upload a picture to my post. The search showed some similar bras from various sellers.

I have been on the Curvissa website and ordered about five different, but similar, bras. Hopefully one might be OK. If I find one that suits I will be ordering half a dozen! I will let you know how I get on.

Like liz46 I am now wearing very tatty bras. I used to buy the BM bra half a dozen at a time.

I have lost count of how many 'duff' bras I have bought over the years

I have emailed Bon Marche to see if the bra is actually discontinued or just out of stock. It has been unavailable for at least a year now sad

I hope you will find a bra that suits you from those you have ordered. If not, I suggest you try Miss Mary of Sweden. They are not cheap but I have found that they are very comfortable. I am a similar size to you (40C), which always have 3 hooks in my size. I wear underwired non-padded, some of which have comfort straps.

Me too. Triumph are the only bras which fit - not cheap but they last well.

I had this problem too. M&S did a bra I've worn ever since my BC surgery. It was discontinued about 5 years ago. Fortunately, I'd built up quite a stock of them so I haven't needed to buy new in that time, but I'm stuffed when they start to wear out.

The best advice is to be fitted properly I think, as even when you buy exactly the same bra as you have had previously your body changes with time, and your size may have changed.

People here seem to have rather a lot of bras. If you have bras you don’t want they can be sent for recycling at smallsforall or againstbreastcancer. They are then sent all round the world to those in need.

I know you said you like wired bras, but have you thought of buying a non wired one?
The best fitting bras I have ever worn are from Royce. They make non wired bras, and ladies who need prosthetics are catered for.
This is my latest one, so comfortable that I'm going to get another

I have always worn wired bras and wouldn't feel right in a non wired one.

Thanks to all who have receommended Triumph bras. I will have a look at them.

I have also ordered some bras from J D Williams called Claire. They are packs of three so they might just be cheap and nasty. We shall see.

I have just had another idea.

The reason that some of my BM bras are no good is that one of the metal underwires has broken making the bra unwearable.

In the past I have chopped and changed the wires to make a repaired bra. I have always wondered why they don't use plastic wires which wouldn't break.

Anyway, I have found a website (Vena Cava Design) that sells corsetry supplies and have bought a pack of ten pairs of plastic underwires. They come in specific sizes. It was £15 with postage but I reckon I have about eight bras that I could fix.

I don't know why I didn't think of this before!

I will let you know how I get on

I get my m and s bras from Ebay sellers who sell discontinued chain store bras. You have to search around ebay to get the exact size you want.
