Skincare suggestions

My skin seems to have got more sensitive as I have got older! Tried all sorts throughout the years and always come back to Clarins. Apparently CereVe is very good as well as Roche Pose - not expensive

I’m the same as you Dragonfly46. Just dove cream bar and water. Use simple eye makeup remover
And Aldi moisturising cream. Think the secret to good skin is not smoking, drink lots of water and eat a healthy diet x

I use Simple micellar water to cleanse skin. It is excellent even on eye makeup. I put it on bamboo pads. They are washable...in fact had for two years now. They go in a string bag in washing machine. Recomend them.

I'd suggest you exfoliate once a week. I use an exfoliating pad with Dove soap - it gets rid of dead skin cells and gives you a glowing more youthful look, but don't over do it.

My daughter introduced me to Tropic products and I love their cleanser and serums and they have made a big difference to my skin. I still use nivea as a moisturiser

Bit greasy though? I’m not a fan.

Aveeno for moisturizing! Don't need much , simple and does the job .

M&S do some lovely skincare ranges. I like their formula range but go in and have a look I like the absolute creams

I totally agree JJ, l used to use Superdrug own creams but since the day cream has been re-launched it is now made in Thailand and too much of a carbon footprint for me so now I mix my Ordinary creams and potions with M and S and they are really good products…. And the prices are very reasonable as well ?

Recently, I have been treating myself to M&S Prai skincare. All of the products are very good indeed.

Followed by ‘Neals Yard’ Rejuvinating Cream.

I used to love to dollop on Youth Code by L’Oreal. Then it got discontinued!

It was my favourite.

And a tip for toenails. (sorry to digress).
They do tend to dry out in socks and boots this time of year don’t they?
A Spanish friend advised me to rub olive oil into them as and when. ‘It’s not just for salads out here’ ... made me laugh.
Anyway a drop in a shot glass on the bathroom counter reminds me & I apply it regularly, rubbing into the sides & cuticles of the nails and along the cut edge. My goodness it really does make a huge difference (and it’s cheap!).

I love Garnier Micellar Oil Infused Cleansing Water For Dry Skin. Available from high street chemists and supermarkets. I use it with washable microfibre pads. Leaves my skin feeling lovely. No need to rinse off either.

As a cream cleanser in the evenings I use Weleda almond cleansing cream. It works pretty well and you can wash off with a warm wet flannel as well as tissues.

I use Super Facialist cleansing oil...must say its improved the look of my skin.

Liz Earle or Elemis for me. My skin can react and I find these suit me fine.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll pass on the white vinegar Namsnanny. It sounds too similar to dabbing problem areas with TCP or peroxide which I did as a teen! I notice that all the other suggestions are wash off cleansers and wonder if this is where I am going wrong. I've always gone for a bottle of cleanser, put it on a cotton wool pad or two and wipe face. Then clean off residue with toner. Is that passee? I find it nice and easy to sit at my dressing table and wipe off in front of the mirror but may be I need a total rethink on my routine!

I love Tropic cleanser and moisturisers. All natural ingredients.

I like Superdrug Vit E Hot Cloth Cleanser. Mild, smells lovely, good price and often on offer. Removed with IKEA white flannels, I have lots of them.

Tropic cleanser is just beautiful.
It’s the best I have ever used, I am a beauty junkie!

Mind you I have a face that could rival Les Dawson on a good day. So nothing I do makes much difference!

I use white vinegar (yes!) For open pores or cleansing. It also softens skin.
I make my own moisturizer or use E45.
