Non wired bras

Anyone else disappointed by the range of non wired bras available? My favourite non wired bra has been discontinued by M&S and I am struggling to find a substitute. Lingerie departments are full of pretty bras but they are nearly all wired. Why aren't those who prefer a non wired option offered a better choice?

There are always Bra Bargains ( as I call them ) on Ebay. They are the genuine article. Companies buy up end of line stock but have to cut out the label.
Here’s an example.

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/222890197530?var=521716517881&mkevt=1&mkcid=1&mkrid=710-53481-19255-0&campid=5338365712&toolid=20006&customid=EB38211143&

I second this. I always buy bras from Ebay now, it's easy to filter by size, colour, brand, style. The prices are lower than in the shops, and it is genuine M&S stock, just with the brand label removed.

Triumph non-wired are pretty and comfortable

I do not bother to wear a bra around family. Usually wear a comfortable T Shirt bra from Primark to go out in during the summer or in the winter I just wear a thick coat ,I don't even bother then with a bra.

I am, however, looking for a really comfortable bra , maybe padded, to enhance a beautiful size 14 Monsoon dress (SALE) that I have bought for a wedding in April. 34B/C and I have started using a back bra extended.
Does anyone have a great suggestion?

I got mine from Grattans, I've had a catalogue for years. You have to go online now. I have a large bust so need plenty of support. I normally have to pay about 50 pounds for a decent one. The last ones I got were 15 pounds and were very pretty so I bought 4 of them

A while ago I bought a bra from Matalan because it was the only all cotton bra I could find. It was so comfortable that I have bought all sorts of bras there ever since both wired and non-wired at a fraction of the price of other stores. So far they have all washed and lasted well.

I don't wear underwired and struggle to find unpadded but did find good ones in the Tweedmill outlet store in N Wales, maybe try your local outlet

Never mind non wired, can we pleeeease have some decent non PADDED bras??? I have a very generous boosom nowadays (blossomed from 36c all my life to something incomprehensibly mahoosive in my dotage?!?) And the last thing I need is to be wearing two foam crash helmets down me jumper! I've not a vein of really well constructed bras in supermarkets Tesco and George at Asda at embarrassingly low prices too! They do wireless versions too, well worth a visit I can get half a dozen for the price of ONE upmarket over the shoulder boulder holder! And they fit beautifully, you MUST know your size and try on for fit but they're amazing!

I had to stop wearing underwired bras about 10 years ago and often find some pretty ones in the " mastectomy" bra selection

Maidenform Comfort Devotion No-wire Bra with lift. This bra is so comfortable and provides very good shaping. You can get it on the Maidenform.com site or Amazon.

Very disappointed
It's extremely difficult to find anything that fits well and is of good quality

Just wanted to add a story about non-wired bras. About 20 years ago I went to my GP about something and during the conversation (in those days we had time for conversations) i asked her what she thought about wired bras; were they really safe (at the time there was a lot of talk about them possibly not being). She looked me straight in the eye and said something like: "If you're asking me as your doctor, I can tell you that there is no research to say that wired bras are harmful. If you're asking me as a woman, I can tell you that I don't wear them, and neither do any of my female friends who are doctors." Then she smiled, and changed the subject. Since then, I've never worn wired bras !!

I hate bras altogether, and being a modest 'B' cup, I can get away without wearing one when at home or in casual wear.
If I want to look shapely and well-groomed in my smart clothes I just grit my teeth and put up with the discomfort of an underwired 'boulder-holder'.
One day, some clever person might invent a perfectly comfortable, beautifully shapely bra that will make everyone happy, but until then, as the French say, "It is necessary to suffer to be beautiful"

I want to know why almost all bas - wired or not wired, fasten at the back? I find the Glamourise front-fastening bras much easier to manage but the pretty ones are underwired.

I don't really care how non pretty the bra looks. I am the only one who sees it. I just need comfort at a reasonable price. I've worn the same M&S bra for at least 30 years. I'll be very unhappy if they stop selling it.

spabbygirl Fri 28-Jan-22 12:00:30

I'm the same, I just don't do underwired bras. I asked the assistant in M&S why bras had a bit of wire and she very sniffily told me you get a much better shape and profile with wire. I can't tell the difference to look at. Lots of unwired bras are really just straps of elasticated lace and work by pushing your boobs against your chest, not supporting, and are horribly tight and uncomfortable to wear, then there are lots of rather beautiful nursing bras which have all sorts of extras that we don't need, then you get the non-wired bras that are meant for older age groups that don't have so many colours and aren't so pretty. I liked the Royce bras that someone mentioned here so I'll try that, I got one on eBay as someone else suggested here

I don't wear bras unless I'm going out somewhere special - I have costochondritis which makes me feel I'm wearing a tight fitting bra even when I've not got one on at all. On the rare occasions I do put one on, I've got some very pretty un-wired ones with matching knickers that I've bought from Damart of all places. They're really very attractive and often available at a ridiculously low discounted price.

Try Triumph - I've had similar M and S issues and have moved on!

If anyone wants a 32B pretty underwired bra brand new, let me know I have 4 and just cannot wear wired bras any longer. They truly are killing as you get older

Dylant1234 Fri 28-Jan-22 11:39:15

I’m 69 and I’ve stopped wearing bras altogether - BLISS! I don’t give a t* that they’re somewhere around my waist ? not my problem …..

midgey Fri 28-Jan-22 11:33:26

Lots of sizes in Debenhams definitely worth a look at half price.

Casdon Thu 27-Jan-22 22:32:21

I can imagine Blossoming, it must be annoying to have to pay more just because of your size - not a fair system.

Blossoming Thu 27-Jan-22 22:24:41

I need a FF Casdon and M&S don’t stock them, unfortunately. It’s not hard to find FFs, just they’re never inexpensive.

Casdon Thu 27-Jan-22 22:03:33

There are over 50 non wired bras on M&S online, I think you’d have to be very fussy not to be able to find something there that suited you - the stores don’t carry the full range, but I use M&S online for most things these days - you can order several styles and return the ones that you don’t like.

Woodmouse Thu 27-Jan-22 21:44:01

I never wear underwired bras and discovered Naturana bras about 15 years ago. They do underwired and non underwired and I now wouldn't buy any other. You can get them on Amazon. They are so comfortable and very reasonable price wise. I think they are manufactured by a German company.

midgey Thu 27-Jan-22 21:33:39

Debenhams have a good sale on bras at the moment. Obviously it’s on line.
