Crikey, where did that come from?

Every morning I use the wall mirror in the bathroom to check my eyebrows, pluck out the odd stray hair from top lip or chin, you know the kind of things. This morning, I flicked a long black hair away from my chin......but it didn't move. It had grown, apparently overnight. How do these things happen? Honestly, it was a good 2cms long, an inch in old money.

Some years ago I noticed a single long black hair on my chin. I plucked it out and it grew again. After about two years of regular plucking it finally stopped growing and there haven't been any others. But why was it just the one?

It was the advance guard, checking out the site for the hordes waiting.........

I've often wondered what sort of bearded lady I would be if I allowed my chin whiskers to grow!
So far I haven't been brave enough to try.
I tweeze out the whiskey hairs, and I have a little shaver for the finer ones, and those on the top lip.
As they say, growing old isn't for sissies.

That's how I deal with stray hairs too MimiMoon. I always said I would never shave my face but my daughter told me about the mini shaver and I now wouldn't be without it smile

I remember visiting an elderly friend of my mother in a care home many years ago. She told me that hair which grew to protect important body parts would disappear from the unused bits iyswim and reappear on the chin.
Had no idea what she meant at the time. Certainly do now.

Bizarre Calli but kudos for being able to contort yourself to look.

Yehh tell me about it,it`s called face off in my house,as my face gets pulled with the hair.
Dh thinks it`s hilarious.

I can finger grab fine hairs around my nipples. ?

The hairs that used to grow in my armpits have migrated to my face I think. Always have had a hairy mole that I shave regularly, but now chin is sprouting away too. Great for the self confidence!

Callistemon21 I nearly choked on my coffee. You take the prize for bizarre hirsute stories, no question. Loved it. grin

Things appear that you don't want. Things disappear that you do want. confused

My cousin also a very good friend has made a pact with me

If either of us is in hospital or incapacitated in someway, we will attend to any of t'others embarrassing or unwanted hair.

I asked my DIL if she'd sort mine out if needed.
She said it would be a pleasure! ???

The sole of my foot felt uncomfortable once years ago and when I managed to contort myself to look, there was a long black hair growing there.

I remember when I was 12 and we went to France to meet relatives for the first time. We met an aunt of my Dad's , and I had to bend down to kiss her wiskery cheeks three times. As I got older I realized that was my DNA, but thankfully I have tweezers and reading glasses.

I used to be horrified to find black hairs on my chin. Sadly these days they often white. Would love to have the black ones back…..?

Haha I know, damn good job I knew her quite well. She actually said you can nearly wrap it around your neck.

I was once at a dance competition with my daughter and one of the mums walked up to say hello. She looked at me walked away and got a pair of tweezers out of her bag. She said haven’t you noticed that long hair growing out of the spot on your chin then tweezed it off. I was so in shock I’d not even noticed it. Felt like a right scruff I make sure I always check it now and they are always grey.

? what did you say? That seems very rude and overstepping boundaries to me.

Cherrytree59. I have considered arranging the same pact with my good friend.

I take various medication which causes my hair to thin - head, eyebrows, legs and underarms. But, if I didn’t pluck my chin EVERY DAY, I would have flowing hair down to to my knees!

Serendipity22 Fri 11-Mar-22 16:37:36

Ohhhhhh honestly its flabergatin.

I was looking at my face in the kitchen mirror, it was a beautiful bright sunny day and with the sun's angle on the mirror i had more hairs on my flippin face than all the cast of PLANET OF THE APES.... noooooooo WHAT THE HECK !!

I have acquired a NONO hair remover, pricy yes and leaves a BURNING smell !!!!! But it does the trick despite the burning flesh smell ( hahahaha )

I had 1 single solitary hair on my chest ( believe it or believe it not ) and i named him BERT... i kind of feel sorry for Bert, all alone, sat upon my chest, so i have allowed him to stay where he .....
grin

I've always been fair haired so can anyone tell me why I could easily grow a black tash and beard.
I have to epilady regularly.

You’re not alone. I always dread not having spotted one of the beasts before meeting someone. Rather like the cobweb you only notice when you have visitors.

That reminds me of an awful moment at work. A colleague was chatting at work. I noticed a long hair on her face. I went to flick it away, (we are friends and this was an OK thing to do) and as I grabbed and pulled her whole face came with it.

grin grin.
