Chestnut

If flowery is not your look then here's a dress which will make you look even more frumpy.

Those sandals are so comfy, I bought them last year and wore them all summer and they will be making an appearance quite soon.

Brilliant GrandmaSue.

Curtain dresses always make me think of this Carol Burnett sketch!

Transporting by road is still shipping. Shipping doesn't just involve ships.

trisher Fri 18-Mar-22 11:18:31

M&S could withdraw all support. Shipping isn't all support. Goods may be being manufactured in Turkey and transported by road that isn't shipping.

She was great. I’ve just spotted the thread on news and politics. Reposting GGs info

trisher Fri 18-Mar-22 11:04:26

I've started a thread on this didn't want to disrupt the shopping chat. Wasn't she great!

Lesia Vasylenko, Ukrainian MP on Question Time last evening claimed that M&S are one of the few large companies still doing business with Russia. Perhaps Putin enjoys wearing their dresses in the privacy of his lair but I won’t be shopping with them any time soon.

There's a whole thread about this and how M&S do not own the shops there that are branded M&S, and have not been supplying them for weeks.

I'm not sure what else they can do.

I do often wonder where M&S find their buyers.
And whether colour-blindness plus a taste bypass are requirements for the job.

I do still find the odd thing but it’s increasingly rare now.

I last wore a dress like that when I was about 8 - and complained loudly because it was such a babyish dress!

Sneakers and DMs can look good with dresses & skirts on some people, but they’ve got to compliment each other, or clash in an interesting way, and whoever put these dresses & shoes together has got it badly wrong.

Now, see what you’ve done - I looked on the M and S site to check this out (couldn’t find it) and ended up ordering this dress blush

I’ve just bought this dress as well as the ditzy blue one. They are gorgeous and only £25 each! ?

Mine arrived instore today - went in to collect and tried it on - got a refund! It wasn’t awful, but it didn’t do anything for me.

I bought a Per Una dress years ago, still love the fabric and pattern but unfortunately it just doesn't suit me any more, it's far too young a style.

Callistemon21 Thu 17-Mar-22 15:34:38

You'd think the models would try to not look so glum, though. I realise they probably hate the clothes with a passion but there is a saying "Just smile and take the money".

trisher Thu 17-Mar-22 15:31:44

I bought an M&S dress several years ago on line. It's tartan-mainly dark blues and greens and it fulfills one of my essentials for dresses now. They MUST have pockets!

Noooo just joking ???

I only buy underwear from m&s and even that isn't as good as it used to be. I think I bought a top about 10 years ago from the Per Una range.

62Granny Thu 17-Mar-22 15:08:26

I hate the M&S website with a passion, I think everything looks hideous and the clothes never look like something most normal M& S shoppers would wear. Also their colours seem to be wishy washy. I sometimes like something in-store but think they are over priced on the whole.

I have just been in m & s and the dresses are horrible. One matched my tea towel.

One of my tea towels is a PG Tips one with the chimpanzees on it.

I know animal prints are in fashion but that could be taking it a bit far.

BlueBelle Thu 17-Mar-22 14:57:10

She’s very androgynous apart from the long hair I ve noticed that with a lot of their models me thinks they re trying too hard
Blimey millie the only voice of approval methinks
As for that model in your picture Tina her legs and sandals look like a young man’s legs and feet
These are all dreadful

What a lovely dress and it's quite short! Must go and have a browse round m&s.

Those are indeed some very ugly dresses. Also, the grumpy model look doesn't do it for me!

The whole baggy dress with sneakers has not caught on here in Canada. Can't say that I like the look, I don't think it is flattering.

Lucky you. It's been hanging around here for too long. Looks ridiculous on older women and unflattering on young ones however slim and pretty.

Chestnut Thu 17-Mar-22 13:37:23

I used to like flowery or pattered dresses (esp. in the 1970s) but I would never have worn anything like these at any age!

JackyB Thu 17-Mar-22 13:34:35

And size 11 feet!
