Hello everybody. I'm 75. I seldom wear makeup now but I've been wearing Estee Lauder Double Wear for many years. It was fantastic when I was working, because I got a full day out of one application. Now I've got older, it looks very dry on my skin, almost like a mask, although my skin isn't dry.

I've got high colour in my face and now I'm developing age spots so if I need to wear makeup I need something that gives good coverage and lasts well.

Is there another foundation that will do this for me? I can still wear the Estee Lauder but I would like something that looks a little more natural.

Thanks.

I stopped using EL Double Wear for the same reason super; it just felt too heavy and claggy. I've found The Ordinary Full Coverage works very well, isn't too heavy and matte and lasts all day. About half the price too.

I have made many expensive mistakes purchasing foundations. I decided to visit Boots to try the new No 7 facial scanner. The scanner analysis your skin and skin tone. They recommended their dewy foundation. The scanner recommends the correct colour match. I purchased the recommendations. Really happy with the outcome. Well worth a try.

Jimjam1 That's interesting, I hadn't heard of that before. I've just looked on the Boots website and booked an appointment to have the facial scanner. It sounds stupid, but I suppose it means going bare-faced to have it done?

When I was buying some nail Varnish in John Lewis recently I was given some make up foundation samples by Dior. I tried it and loved it and decided to treat myself even though it is more expensive than my normal make up. It is called Forever Glow Foundation. I add to it a tiny dot of Soap and Glory ‘Glow and Dew It’ and mix in two blobs of the Dior. It takes a few minutes to soak into my skin but the result is good coverage.

Primark foundations have got very good reviews in the beauty sections of magazines. The most expensive one, which is about £5 I think, was judged as good as Estee Lauder double wear. There are several different types of foundation and there are testers so you can try them on your hand.

IT 'your skin but better' CC+ spf 50. Most days I just use coconut oil but if I'm going out somewhere special or have visitors - this is great.

Thanks for the tips ladies. You've given me an idea where to start.

I use Clinique CC tinted moisturiser. It tones down redness, moisturises, has UV protection and stays on all day. It is very light.

I still have a bottle of double wear to finish off but when that’s gone I will not be buying it anymore as I think it’s definitely now not worth the money. I was recommended to try Superdrug revolution conceal and define foundation which is full coverage and for a third of the price of the double wear I am very pleased …?
