I’m not one for frills and fripperies but I do love a nice frock. This is so much better than the skintight scratchy fussy ones worn by many celebs.

She dresses like I did in the nineties.. all very Laura Ashley- school PTA and pillar of the church as well as a busy wife and mum. Nothing to write home about in 2022, is it.

I must be a giant as she looked tiny next to me. She's certainly petite.

merlotgran Fri 29-Apr-22 08:39:55

I also thought Sophie was taller.

The camera may not lie but it can certainly deceive.

I love the dress she’s wearing but she’s welcome to the toe squashers. ?

According to Google she is 5'4".

Same as me (now I've shrunk)
So why don't I look like that in a dress?

Answers on a postcard not reqired ?

Still taller than me Rubysong.

This dress from Roman is similar to some of her looks, and is on offer at £25.

That's more what I meant about a peplum frill at the bottom, but I would take the puff out of the sleeves.

Everyone made fun of Edwards It’s a Royal knockout but I thought it was a good attempt to drag the royals into the modern age.

I think she’s about 5ft 5ins, so taller than me.

I've just dug this out from the back of my wardrobe to copy Sophie's style. Luckily I'm blonde too, but need to grow my hair to wear a ponytail and her waist is a bit trimmer.

I only own one dress and don't wear that.

I always think other people look lovely in dresses but not me.
Perhaps because I can't wear high heels or even nice shoes any more.

Sophie's dress looks comfortable and cool

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 28-Apr-22 17:10:54

It looks quite long H. My legs are not things of beauty either these days.?

Baggs Thu 28-Apr-22 17:09:08

^ what on earth is wrong with the shoes!^

Toe squashers

What a pretty dress Joseanne - I only wish I had legs ? for a dress - mine are like matchsticks ?

Blossoming Thu 28-Apr-22 17:02:06

I daren’t buy any more dresses at the moment as I have a wardrobe full of them, but it doesn’t stop me looking! Though I do have one on order to wear to a wedding this summer, but it only cost £38 grin

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 28-Apr-22 16:33:32

Oooh I love it. Beautiful colours.

travelsafar Thu 28-Apr-22 16:31:31

Joseanne love the dress, so feminine. I have grown my hair since lock down and wear it similarly to Sophie, it's so easy to deal with.smile

It's not all about the clothes Lucca. There are at least half a dozen comments on this thread about her demeanour, and from 3 or so posters who have actually met her.
I like her shoes, but wouldn't choose them fir myself.

PinkCosmos Thu 28-Apr-22 14:26:10

'Also she's tiny so probably needs high heels!'

I always thought she was quite tall. She does dress well. Sophie seems to pick classic and simple lines rather than fussy outfits. Having a lovely figure also helps

Lucca Thu 28-Apr-22 14:21:42

That’s because it’s about the clothes pure and simple.

The “bashing” ? Of whom ? Apart from h and m plus Andrew it’s usually the institution rather than the people I’d say.

Anyway she looks nice and I can’t see what is wrong with her shoes !!

Joseanne Thu 28-Apr-22 14:13:32

Gosh, I do hope she reads this thread to counteract the bashing members of the royal family usually receive.

SueDonim Thu 28-Apr-22 14:04:06

Sophie and the children were on the same flight as us a few years ago. They took their places and acted as any other well-behaved person would in public, no fuss or bother. Sophie is very beautiful and elegant and came over as very serene, almost ethereal.

Speaking of royals, yesterday a friend on holiday in Spain bumped into the king and queen of Spain. She said they shook hands and were very friendly and chatty.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 28-Apr-22 11:33:10

I met Edward with one of our AC several years ago. He was extremely friendly, on top of his brief and spent a lot of time with each family, so much so that the event ran over time.
