Thanks for your replies, I am feeling really frumpy at the moment. Legs are not slim. I am 5 foot 3 and a size 12/14.

Seasalt might be worth a look - I’ve had some from there. Not cheap but good quality. I buy online and delivery is always pretty quick. And free returns, IIRC. Before I was sure of their sizing I’d order two and return the ‘wrong’ one.
