How long would you let your hair get after 70

I think she’s right about a severe cut looking masculine though.

A softer pixie cut like Judi Dench’s looks great so long as you have the face shape to carry it off and it’s important to look at yourself in profile before exposing the side of your face.

I love long hair really, but it's too difficult for me to deal with now, so it's short. I cut it myself every few weeks. I'm grey, but often put pink streaks in it myself.

Hair similar to yours Norah, needs a cut at present but have one booked. It is a good length for covering the hearing aids

When mine reaches about an inch below my shoulders, I have 2 inches cut off. I hate it catching on my collar. In fact I am having it done tomorrow.

75 in Nov I started to grow my hair during lockdown and it became thicker and curly. Went for a trim and nearly passed out at the price, use to pay between £17 and £25 for a dry trim. Now I can’t find a hairdresser who charges less than £50 so it’s going to stay long

I had long hair for years, then a very short cut until 2020.
Now it's past my shoulders and I have it down but clipped back from my face.
I may start putting it in a single plait at the back, if it gets long enough.
I'm very close to 70 and my hair still has a good colour.

Me too Norah takes no time to do.

At 72 next Tuesday I have always had long hair just above waist length put up in a large clip most days,I have 2/3ins trimmed off every 6 months to keep the ends tidy.

Chin length bob, slanted forward. Snow white with pale blonde balayage worked throughout.

I am 78 and my hair is short with a decent cut. I am lucky I have a lot of it although it is fine. It is many years since I applied colour to it. It is easy to wash and dry, the latter naturally.

My hair used to be dark chestnut and I usually had it long so that I could put it up or down easily. Now it is pure white and I have it cut short with a fringe. I just have a good cut and then deal with it myself. Much easier for swimming and takes very little washing . Have never wanted to colour it , couldnt be bothered with the hassle or the cost to keep it up. This way is the least expensive and what you see is what you get!!

At 64 ,mine is long, just so I can put it into an 'updo' .I think I look quite manly with short hair , much softer with it tied up in a style.
But would never go out the door with it down.

My long hair got so thin so it’s now just below my shoulders, I rarely wear it down, always up in a clip.

I have a chin length layered bob, it’s easy for me to look after. My hair is very thick and very straight. Both of my grandmothers had very long hair that was worn up. My mother had curly hair that she wore collar length. My hair grew very long during lockdown and shielding and I wore it up in a butterfly clasp. I’ve no plans to change my style at the moment but I may do.

Mine just sits on or a bit past my shoulders. I haven't had it short since about 12 when I could finally have longer hair.

Short for me because I'm lazy and not good at styling. Daily wash and blow dry fluffs it up. Very happy.

Mine’s just below my shoulders. Short doesn’t suit me. It’s very quick to wash, condition and blow dry. No products or styling needed. I’m 71.

Long hair is ageing unless it’s put up. Short severe cuts look masculine. It’s hard to get it right as we get older. Be guided by face shape and ask your friends for their opinions. My friend wears her long hair down sometimes but looks 10 years younger when she clips it up.

Not for me I have mine cut in a short spiky style I still have thick hair and I ve had it short since I was in my late 30 s
but I had one grandma with hair down to her bum she died at 84 without a grey hair in her dark long chestnut coloured hair she wore it in two long plaits, with each plait crossing at the top of her head ( like the Swiss style)
My dad her son died with no grey hairs either but he was fairer…. I m pure white

No long hair for me. Short with a good cut is so easy to wash, dry and manage.

I'm not good at doing updo's or braids, so my hair is short. But really, if you have a certain style that suits, keep it long!

I think it's really down to the condition of your hair. My hair's to my waist BUT as I've got older (72) it's thinning a lot now, and for the first time in over 20 years I'm thinking of getting it chopped up a bit. In the meantime, I must have saved a fortune in hairdressing fees! I usually have it up in a grip.
