I don`t really care for trousers, and with my mobility problems I have difficulty putting them on. Would a long dress, or skirt, really work for someone who`s only 5`1"? I like that idea. Thanks for all the suggestions.
Maw, you`re very kind x

Hellogirl we will have no fat shaming here! heh heh, I am a large lady too, and having dark skin need to wear something bright, and in Summer always floaty which is cool.
for a wedding, and I am much the same age as you, I would wear a dress, fairly long, and definitely a hat. You can wear a sandal with a small heel to give some height.
be comfortable and be yourself.

I don’t really .. must be the Croatian sun???‍♀️

Fair enough it’s just one of my silly pet hates !!! I sometimes think
There are those who would wear a fleece and jeans… stick a fascinator on head and toddle off to a wedding

I’m of the generation brought up to wear a head covering in Church!

I haven’t ever worn a fascinator, only hats, so not my personal choice, but I know some ladies prefer them.

GSM agree with the exception of a fascinator! One of the.most overused /wrongly chosen items of clothing IMO.

The outfit is elegant enough with just really nicely done hair

The cream and black is my favourite, too.

I particularly like the cream and black top which Maw picked out. Teamed with a cream top as in the picture, black trousers and a black hat or fascinator, it would be be quite stunning - and something you could wear again and again, unlike so many ‘wedding outfits’.

Hi Hellogirl ,

If you really want a bargain yet something suitable for a wedding - have a look at ebay .

Some outfits haven't even been worn ( due to the changing shape of the owner ) or only just once .

My friends and I have snapped up some incredibly beautiful clothes that we would otherwise not been able to afford .

Don't describe yourself as short and fat - I'm sure that youcare lovely as you are !

Have a lovely wedding and enjoy it .

I love the black and cream and would wear with cream crepe or silk trousers with black accessories.
Lovely and elegant.
Shop now while the sale is on.

Having met you, I think you will look lovely in whatever you choose, but August could get hot (is the wedding in this country?) so cool and floaty is the look I would go for.
Here are 3 pieces from the Box2 sale (good time to get summer things for next year!) and they would look lovely (and be comfy) with either a long skirt or palazzo type loose trousers and a top - think single colour column under a coloured top/blouse/jacket. Then you don’t need to worry about your legs and feet being on show especially if they swell in the heat!

The choices from Maw are very appealing. I love the cream with black as you may have smart black summer trousers already.

Cute black flats are easiest to find. Practical for budgeting.

I did read what you posted, but classic black trousers aren't near your face for colour. May work with things you already own.

One of my grandchildren used to reference my mum as soft rather than short and fat - sounds kinder doesn't it?

Be nice to yourself, you're soft - not fat. smile

Oh, they're lovely.
smile
They look really comfortable, too.

PS, I also can`t afford to spend a fortune.

Has anyone any ideas? One of my grandsons is getting married next August, by which time I`ll be 80. I`m short and fat, with limited mobility, and not what you`d call a stylish person. I like bright colours and pastels, not black or dark colours, although I know they`d be more slimming.
