Ali08, but Shein USP is that the fabric has been harvested or woven by Uighurs, held forceably in re-education camps. Tortured, raped, the victims of forced abortions and starved, all by the government of China.

Does that give that extra something to your clothes? Because we cannot reach perfection, does not mean we should not try to make sure our clothes are as ethical as possible and the appalling suffering and imprisonment of the Uighurs, is enough to put me buying anything with even a suggestion that it might be the product of their suffering.

If for you it just adds an extra frisson to the clothes, so be it, but I know what it lleaves me thinking.

The only one on that list I have ever bought from is Haier. My fridge/freezer is a John Lewis branded Haier appliance, bought two years ago and unlikely to be replaced for at least ten years.

I supposed we all need to be more aware of what we're buying.

Shein though. I've read about people getting the jewelery tested and finding out it contained toxic materials. Also read about independant artists and designers having their work stolen and used without permission or payment.

I have browsed their site. I am not impressed by plastic handbags or synthetic shoes, or clothes that aren't made of natural fibres. When I was young, my parents used to say "* You get what you pay for*" and in this case, I think it's probably true.

When something seems to good to be true, it probably is. Like the Muller Light advert that shows someone having a great time while someone else in the world suffers.

I posted on here for a good brand of decent, comfortable shoe recommendation, and skechers were popular.
I did buy some, but secondhand, so...

Shein sell leather bags and accessories, too, by the way.

I don't need more Skechers either. It would be hard to beat them for comfort though and I also got the arch support ones.

I bought a "leather" dog collar and was very disappointed. It was described as leather, but was not leather or animal in origin. Just plastic. I don't know why they describe things as leather if they are not.

The skechers I bought rubbed a strange black coloured blister on my heel.
I posted a pic of it, then bought some secondhand Clark's shoes instead, and I love 'em!

The podiatrist said that the Skechers were 'too bendy' and didnt give enough support.

I have heard that some people have bought fake skechers and it's possible that happened to you MissAdventure. I even had an uncomfortable pair once, but have bought many extremely comfortable pairs.

I've bought the supposed "podiatrist recommended" Arch Support Skechers most recently ... though I have not discussed this with a Podiatrist. I think the normal skechers are quite bendy but these are not at all. They did cost me £85 though.

I think I sold mine on ebay for more than I paid, then the soles crumbled, and I had to refund the buyer.

My podiatrist said the same Callistemon.

The Arch Fit Skechers I bought definitely said they were Podiatrist endorsed, but I doubt the normal skechers are. I have not had problems with my achilles tendon since having them.

Some are firmer than others and I still wear the soft pair silverlining, but would do the 'bend test' if I bought another pair. I have to wear orthotics anyway.

News item in the i today The head of an online influencer agency has resigned today and announced that she will no longer work with Shein following revelations about the horrendous labour abuses in the factories the company's clothes are made in.

These include workers working 18 hour days with one day off a month and a pay rate of 3p an hour.

I was cross with myself for buying a jumper from Woolovers made in China just last winter. I haven't washed it yet, but it is full of bobbles and felting.
And the worst thing was they took the money for it weeks before the shipment had even arrived in this country.
So I'm with Callistemon on her comments.

Skechers have an appalling system in place.

They use a company that is nicknamed "sweatshop on wheels" for their shoe deliveries, and the people who load, unload, and drive these mobile sweatshops have awful working conditions.
