I have a Regatta warm lined waterproof jacket, which needs replacing. I would prefer to get a longer style this time, but the ones I’ve seen - in Seasalt for instance - are hugely expensive. Is it worth investing? Are they good? Or any other recommendations? Thanks
I bought one from craghoppers last year which is over the knee and I can highly recommend. Its waterproof and very cosy. You can tighten the cuffs, and it has several very deep pockets ❤
I’ve just bought a long waterproof coat from Lighthouse. Got discount for new customer plus signed up for newsletter for additional discount. I’ve retired my wax coat after 30 years but really can’t afford a new one - they are so expensive. I went for a long coat, they have various lengths, to keep my legs dry during dog walks. Works brilliantly.
Lighthouse worth looking at. Both my daughters and I have bought raincoats/jackets from them and they seem good quality. Better than Cotton Traders one I bought a few years ago which wasn't a good fit.
Lighthouse have some great coats and are definitely waterproof - the ones they claim to be of course!
i have a seasalt and it did not retain the waterproofing nor did lighthouse. I recommend Lazy jacks - very well made and has lasted me longer than the other 2 makes . I've recently bought a Tog24 - about mid thigh. Yet to be tested in heavy rain but the magnetic flap (rather than velcro) means you can wear a pretty lightweight scarf without getting it pulled on the velcro
I recommend seasalt too. Great for dog walking. I'm 5ft 9 and mine comes to the top of my wellies. Well worth the money, completely weather proof. I did wait for the sale though as otherwise it would have been £160.00. Its 3 years old but looks brand new.
Oh brilliant Sally! I’m so pleased! Be prepared for a wait though, I ordered a Heart Felt dress from them a week ago, and it hasn’t been dispatched yet. I hope you have more luck!
This one is £52 and available in all sizes from 8 to 28
AND it’s Sea Salt, AND it’s brand new!
Thanks Fanny I ended up buying this one yesterday 👏. I went into town and tried a Janelle one on for size which was lovely but at £160 I couldn’t justify the cost before Christmas. I’ll look again in the sales - but for now the one you posted above looks perfect for dog walking and is longer than my current non-rainproof coat! Thanks again x
Like for now? Autumn and winter? I just love my Jack Wolfskin, a classig black with a hood that can be zipped off (I never do). 100% water-and windproof. Not cheap, but they last a lifetime.
I’ve just bought the Joules Loxley Borg lined coat and it’s brilliant, fully waterproof and a cosy lining. Plus it comes just below my knee so no rain soaking my jeans. I paid £75 for mine as I shopped around www.magrigg.co.uk/joules-women-s-loxley-cosy-coat-black.html
I can vouch for my Seasalt raincoat bought in a sale a few years ago. It's warm, wind and waterproof and has worn well. i especially like the long sleeve ends that keep my gloves dry too.
I've bought a couple of Lands End raincoats online in their sale, when they are a very good price. Returns are fairly simple as well. My partner and son have Squall coats and I also have a Stadium which is long and warm as well as rainproof. I wait for the sales and don't worry about the colours too much as they're for dog walking.
Check for Seasalt outlet shops nearby? I did get a raincoat from there but the shoulders leak! MandM direct are brilliant for online. All appears genuine and good quality as opposed to some of the sports outlet that might sell branded items..but they don't have the quality..I wonder sometimes if they have branded items made especially for the shop?!?
www.ilsejacobsen.co.uk/collections/rainwear I’ve just bought a gorgeous raincoat from Ilse Jacobsen. Danish company - 40% off for Black Friday and in a huge range of colours and lengths. They sell them in John Leriscand similar shops but cheaper from their website.
and Seasalt have superb customer relations - long chats on phone, discussion of detail of fit of different styles (ie see good for my T shirt shape, others good if you are a bit more "pear".sizing etc.

My DiL gave me a Seasalt long rainproof coat, pretty and light, I cannot recommend them enough, yes they ARE expensive but if you can manage, worth every penny IMO. love it.
