Hair styles and hearing aids

Personally, I Do not care about hearing aides ‘showing’!
I wear my hair up (buns/pony tail)etc or down depending g on my activities/mood!
I am having g problems with a sore ear as I had new glasses Feb and one of the arms rubs one of my hearing aides - and now I have a Wedding to attend and wish to wear a fascinator with my hair up so will investigate contact lenses for the occassion …
Honestly don’t worry if the aides show, just try to get a hairstyle that really suits you and makes you feel confident.

I've got short hair and I never bother about mine. In fact I find some people are surprised to hear that I wear them as they hadn't noticed. I did find that I had to stop wearing earrings during lockdown because hearing aids, glasses, mask and earrings were a step too far!

My ideal hearing aids would also have a built in locating device. I seem to spend half my waking hours searching for them. Did I leave them in the bathroom when I had my shower? Did I take them out when I went for a nap or are they lost in my bed? Did they fall out when I was wearing or taking off my Covid mask? or glasses? Perhaps when I took off the tightfitting sweater? or did I leave them at the hairdressers? The Least Likely Location is in their pouch with the spare batteries but occasionally that is where they are.

I'm not bothered about my hearing aids, altho' the GP yesterday said they were very discreet - I had forgotten to take them out as she wanted to look in my ears!! Over the last few years I've given up trying to hide them, they are a necessary aid . I don't expect wearing them upsets anybody else .

At a recent optician's appointment I suggested to him that someone could make a fortune by developing glasses with hearing aid attachments on the legs because many people experience both failing sight and hearing as they age. He just laughed.
I thought Specsavers already made glasses like that

Well one difference is that you can choose frames for your glasses - perhaps plain for every day and a bit of bling for a night out - but I have never seen pretty hearing aids. I am sure there would be a market for aids. designed to look like big earrings, or in a range of colours to match your hair or the rest of your outfit.

It’s sad that so many people are happy to wear glasses but not hearing aids. Surely there is little difference. Both are needed to help seeing/hearing.
As for hair style go with what suits you and don’t be embarrassed by your aids. There really is no need.

I’ve been wearing hearing aids for 4 years now. My hair is between jaw and shoulder length. Virtually no one knows that I wear them and that’s the way it will stay. I’ve heard enough jokes about hearing problems to last a long time and I don’t find them funny.

I will watch this thread with interest. I have hearing aids and wear glasses. I love wearing my hair in a short and spiky pixie cut but don't like my hearing aids to be seen. My new aids have a moulded ear piece and I think are more noticeable. On my next visit to the hairdresser I will ask her to leave some whispy bits to bring over my ears. Mind you when I have suggested in the past that I should have a style covering my ears she has said it wouldn't suit me.

I too do not care a jot if people see my hearing aids, any more than I do about my glasses.

I don’t worry about my hearing aids being on show, deafness isn’t something to be ashamed of. Seems to me that it’s better that people know I’m deaf and adjust how they talk to me.

I’ve recently got hearing aid right ear. I’m always sporting a Bob does the trick.

I have short hair but it covers top of ears. My choice as I have protruding ears. I don’t mind about my aids being seen. By the way there are glasses and aids combined if you so wish. Probably private not nhs though.

I have fairly short hair. It is just long enough at the sides to cover my ears. It therefore hides my hearing aids but I really couldn't care less if they showed or not.

I believe Eric Sykes (him of Hattie Jacques) had his hearing aid incorporated into his black rimmed glasses.

I don’t wear hearing aids but I do have straight hair which requires no tonging or other special styling but would certainly hide aids. Why not wear yours loose and shoulder length?
