Uncontrollable greying hair - help!!

8 months ago, I made the decision to go grey gracefully. I have a shoulder length layered Bob. My hair is very thick and wavy but I’ve always managed to blow dry it into a fairly smooth style. Since I stopped colouring my hair, it is just uncontrollable! I wash and blow dry it and it looks okay but once I sleep on it, it just goes in various directions and looks awful. I really don’t want to have to wash it every day. Can anyone help?

Silk pillowcases really do work to control your hair while you sleep.

You don’t have to wash it every day. Just spray some water on your hair, and then comb through or blow dry it , on a low heat.

I have very wavy grey hair and it stays ok for a day or so but then is wayward to say the least I tend to put it up once it starts misbehaving so get the best of both worlds.

I'm wondering if you use a conditioner? If you don't, perhaps it's worth trying. smile

Don't wash your hair every day. It's not necessary and it will become very dry.

Straighteners! The day after you’ve washed it just straighten it and it’ll look great again.

Try using Faith in Nature hair conditioner when you wash it, and then rough dry it and finally use hair straighteners.. it should then remain smooth for at least a couple of days..

pascal30 I’ve just been looking at the Faith in Nature website. I’d not heard of them before, I’ll give it a try.
Thanks for lots of helpful advice. I’m looking into buying a silk pillow case and will dig out the straighteners.
I think I’m just feeling a bit disheartened with the whole process. Some days it’s as though I’ve got somebody else’s hair on my head! I feel a bit silly for my op today as there are far bigger things to worry about!!

I have also decided few months ago to let my grey hair come through, I’m 5 months in, I had my hair cut into a shorter Bob although my hair isn’t the same texture as yours I wash mine twice week and condition it, I use low heat when I blow dry it takes only 4 mins to dry and I sleep on a silk pillowcase.

Mine is a wavy bob now I wash it once a week no conditioner and scrunch it dry naturally. I really miss my natural red hair but I have got used to it snowy now.
