I have a Whisker Whisperer :)

Having found a long CURLy one just above the corner of my mouth I'm now the owner of a Braun facial hair remover, thanks to earlier posts on gransnet. It's very easy to use and painless. (Beware of copies sold on ebay)

I sometimes wonder whether, if I just left my facial hair, I would grow a beard. It would be white, like my hair. I would look like Santa.

I have a long, fine hair which extrudes from the Cupid's bow part of my lip, straight up my nose. It's a devil to find and looks as though I'm picking my nose constantly whilst I try to get rid of it.

A further gripe; why is it that my decently shaped eyebrows, stupidly plucked out by me when it was 'all the rage' to have just a fine line, refuse to grow back, but the chin and upper lip could sport a goatee left unchecked. Life is just SO unfair!

My DD will simply lean in, without warning, and nip the offending hair. In a large department store, I shrieked at the unexpected sharp pain inflicted on my chin. Think yourself lucky, Liz, to have a whisperer - how discreet.

None of you are alone here.

You won't believe me, but those of you with BLACK hairs are the lucky ones - mine are red-gold, and impossible to see when I want to remove them, which I try to do once a week, as otherwise my chin and upper lip are hairy.

And I know all about that rouge hair! Mine grows under my chin two fingers' breadth above my larynx. Some of you probably know how impossible it is to see and remove hairs from there!

I was in a restaurant with my sister once and she said "Oh you've got a stray hair on your neck." She promptly grabbed it to remove it then shrieked loudly "Oh no, it's attached and about 3 inches long!" I wasn't impressed and she was very embarrassed as the place went quite and everyone stared.

I feel your pain

Currently on hols with my 12 year old. Noticed a black hair on my chin. No tweezers with me - but a 12 year old’s nails are as good as tweezers and she spotted and removed a second one!!

Yes I do too *Auntieflo' the hair on my head is getting thinner whilst random stray hairs pop up on my face and chin all the time.

Chocolatelovinggran Wed 31-May-23 11:26:18

My facial adornments (!) are more bristle than hair. They aspire to be a beard, I think.

I do wish that these odd, stray hairs would grow on my head 😊

I have had a very fine one that used to grow from mid cheek. Also a strong one came from a scar on my chin.
These now seem to have stopped, but now there is an occasional one from the corner of my upper lip that is a pain to tweezer out.

😲

I always wanted a twin sister.
I can see other advantages now, too

Liz08 Wed 31-May-23 10:56:32

It's reassuring that I'm not the only one too! grin
I once saw a documentary about the study of identical twins and one pair of brothers aged about 60 suddenly noticed one long hair had started growing out of their right eyebrows in exactly the same place at exactly the same time! Which means that both their bodies had been 'programmed' in the womb for those cells to change in 60 years time!
Ain't mother nature amazing.....

henetha Wed 31-May-23 10:34:01

Oh good! I'm so glad I'm not the only one.

seadragon

Those on my chin seem to come out overnight at least an inch long......!

seadragon there are helpful posters on the wall at one of our hospitals and one states that facial hair grows faster than any other.

Liz08 I kept feeling something tickling on my neck and thought it was a loose hair which I couldn't find, it annoyed me for a while, but when I looked it was a very fine, long hair that was attached to me 😲

I had one of those long fine hairs on my back! We were out with friend on their boat on a hot summer day, when I kept feeling a tickle on my back, thinking an insect. I asked hubby to check, and he pulled a fine hair about 3" long... I was mortified!

When I was young, I would get one on by chest near by collarbone, it was always the same spot, but only happened once every few years. And yes, they seem to be noticeable once quite long!

A friend of mine told me a hilarious story a few years ago. She was swimming with her adult daughter and felt something on her face. it was a hair and she assumed it was in the water. She wiped it away, carried on swimming and there it was again! And again, and again!

She finally asked her daughter to investigate and she said it was growing out of her face. She swears it was 6” long but the funniest bit was her daughter runs a beauty salon and does all her Mum’s skincare and she had never noticed it. 🤣🤣

Yesterday, while brushing my teeth I caught sight of, what I thought was a stray hair just under my chin. When I pulled it I was horrified to find that it was actually attached to me! shock It was about 2 inches long so must have been growing for quite a while - why hadn't I noticed it???
I was laughing about this with my daughter (who has her own issues with unwanted hair) so we have both decided to now monitor each others chins and have a quiet whisper in the ear if any rogue hair is spotted. grin
