Which sun creams work well and are easy to apply?

Flakesdayout Fri 23-Jun-23 11:46:25

Another Ultrasun fan here. Face factor 25 and 30 and also Factor 50 and I use the Family Body one. I use a daily moisturiser from Facetheory too which has Factor 30.

Great help thank you ladies! I will get a couple of these and try them. Many thanks all smile

i always use Lidl ones.
just started on a factor 50 spray, and found it better than i expected, not greasy and seems to bond on to the skin better.
i spray the back of my hands to apply to face, as it would be risky to spray near eyes, even when shut.

I use Cerave Facial Moisturizer with SPF50 - so far it hasn't run in my eyes

Can anyone recommend a sun cream , which doesn't irritate your eyes if you do that un ladylike thing -perspire !

Another shout out for Altruist. I've also had a few BC removed,it was recommended by my dermatologist, just have to get in the habit of putting it on every morning 🙄

Whitewavemark2 Thu 22-Jun-23 10:03:44

My oncologist said to remember two important things when buying sunscreen.

It must have UVB and UVA

And its life span is limited. So note the date of first use.

LadyGracie Thu 22-Jun-23 10:02:15

I use Nivea Kids 50+ roll on. I've had 5 BCC's removed from my face, 3 of which were on my nose. I always wear a hat and have a slight tinge of a tan on my face which is enough for me.

I've just read the Which article quickly, Boots Soltan factor 30 comes out best followed by Asda the Avon is to be avoided. Factor 50 Children's is the one I can find quickly the best appears to be Asdas Children's spray followed by Sainsbury's kids sun spray.
Two relations have just done a week of walking and they used Soltan 50 and a hat with no side effects whatsoever. Which advises applying before leaving the house apply plenty and keep applying, Use a sun hat and thin protective clothing if you burn as well as a lotion.
The cheaper ones seem to do better than the expensive and they do advise buying the bigger size if you need a lot as it proves cheaper. Also, make sure it is still in date.

Because they are dry sprays no mess or oily feeling or pump type spray.

(This DH’s leg and arms Factor 20)

Do the plungers last the course on the spray ones? I'm always getting the gubbins stuck on pump sprays.

Joseann Thu 22-Jun-23 08:29:15

I've been using the ones on the right for the past three weeks in France. Both good.
(The one on the left just doesn't cut it, rather greasy, so I save it for my legs which don't come out so often!)

Primrose53 Thu 22-Jun-23 08:27:37

We use Nivea factor 50 spray. It is essential with all sun creams to ensure they are still in date once you have opened them. I have to write on the calendar when I open one now because I used to write the date in permanent marker on the bottle but it wears off. Most are OK for 12 months.

I use Calypso Once a day. Rub it on after a morning shower and forget about it all day. Not cheap but I like it.

Marydoll Thu 22-Jun-23 08:25:28

This may be of some help.

Oops premature post

With the spray it’s possible to reach all of my body on my own, handy if DH isn’t around

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Jun-23 08:16:01

Clinique Factor 50 for my face

Ambre Solaire invisible spray Factor 30 or 50 (depending on where and how long I will be in the sun)

Foxygloves Thu 22-Jun-23 08:07:53

Ultra sun factor 50 - using the tinted one saves on foundation!

PamelaJ1 Thu 22-Jun-23 08:04:17

I was in our local hospital yesterday visiting a very sick friend.
I went to get her a coffee and met the dermatologist who chopped my nose off a few weeks ago on the stairs.
Seizing the opportunity to show her that the graft is going brown she recommended Altruist, available in Sainsbury’s at £5.50 a tube. That’s what she uses. I’m not sure why that may work better than the one I use at the moment but I now have two tubes and hope it will help.

Avon has failed independent lab tests to check protection levels.
They deny it.
I think they may have been conducted by Which but I'm no longer sure. Read it a few days ago.

Boots Soltan Once are the two I use 😎
