Slippers

I wonder if anyone has any recommendations for a decent pair of slippers that are not too "grannyish"! I would like some that are robust because I do pop outside in them and have been known to do a bit of gardening in them and I want them to stay on well i.e. not mules because I tend to trip in them. Hopefully some that do not get too big over time either.

As someone else mentioned, Hotter shoes are ideal for house shoes and garden too. They are safer than slippers and look ok, hard wearing and not too pricey. I have many pairs and a specific pair for house shoes. Highly recommend them.

I wear deck shoes rather than slippers, this is my latest pair:

They're expensive at the moment but the company often have offers and also money off first order. This particular pair are very comfortable and the soles are not heavy. I don't have a garden, just a balcony, and happily wear them outside when I do my pots.

I find the Sainsbury's Tu ones with arch support very good, not too expensive either.

GrammaH I've had my Shepherd slippers for several years now, mine are bright red suede and very warm ☺️

Oh I like those! 🙂
I'd want them to last about 10 years, though.

actually slippers are probably the shoe you wear the longest each day. That's why it is so important to use shoes that support your feet where you need it most.
That's why my slippers are "Birkenstock" shoes which have an amazing insole to support my feet.
Find yourself a pair of shoes that you can "slip" easily on and off but are supportive and good for your feet and use them as slippers.

Pavers. Look much like a house shoe and have good non slip soles for popping out to the bin etc.

I have these. They’re not grannyish, my 15 year old granddaughter saw them so she has a pair as well

I have a pair similar to these. I have been wearing them for the past three years in winter and they still are going strong!

I have Hotter Pixie Boots for robust indoor/occasional trip to the bin outdoor slippers. Thoroughly recommend looking for them in the sale.

Skechers Go Walk canvas slip ons . Brilliant for slippers and popping out to hang washing …and a bit of light weeding in ! Don’t dig in them though!

Slippers are the bane of my life - tripping…loosing one (slipping off ) etc…I think it’s because the soles are so flat ?!
I do love Fitflop slippers but they are so expensive.
I think you need an indoor pair of slippers as so many germs and dirt are carried on outside shoes - get some croc types for the gardening and popping outside.
The moccasin sheepskin type are good as usually stay on and can be washed in washing machine (well I do ).
Currently wearing flyflot mules with inner sole footbed but they still fall off.

Marjgran Sun 25-Feb-24 11:46:43

Try Moshulu - most have good waterproof soles, and are lovely colours

MillieBoris Sun 25-Feb-24 11:44:16

I wouldn’t be seen dead in a pair of slippers - trainers for me. Perhaps it goes back to my upbringing - my overly house proud mother made us wear them. Absolutely loathe them

Cycorax Sun 25-Feb-24 11:36:31

Birkenstocks for me everytime. They mould themselves to your feet; great for jobs inside and outside.

SeaWoozle Sun 25-Feb-24 11:35:43

Moshula are brilliant. I’d never buy anything else now and they last for ages. Have a look at their website.

I've had a couple of pairs and yes, they're great. Not cheap but do last and just right for nipping outside!

Re the above post about Skechers. They're OK but can be/become a bit flimsy.

Chrisks Sun 25-Feb-24 11:32:28

Sorry wrong spelling….Moshulu!

Skechers and Hotter have nice thick soles and don't slop off so that you trip over. Great for nipping out to the garden too!

Looks like you can pay all sorts of prices. I've just bought a pair from M&S. They cost about £20 and are cosy. I also keep crocs by the back door.

Mine are slippers, but more like a type of Ugg boot style with a proper sole, so they're definitely not dangerous in any way.

That’s what I wear. They are warm, smart and comfortable. They fit well, so I don’t think they are dangerous. Uggs were designed as slippers, not to be worn as outdoor boots, and are perfect for the purpose.

karmalady Sat 24-Feb-24 06:15:16

celtic sheepskin bootees, snug warm and safe

I slip hunter gardening shoes on for outside

NotSpaghetti Sat 24-Feb-24 05:16:45

I love some of these slipper ideas but don't really like the idea of wearing them outside - I have some slip-on fit-flops for nipping out to the washing line - demoted from regular "outdoor shoes" but still in "good enough" condition.

My current slippers are also fit-flops but shock horror are wool felt clogs so not recommended for people who may trip. I only wear them in cold weather as, like someone above, my feet are generally on the warm side.
