House clothes

I walk my dog first thing everyday and wear leggings and t shirts or fleeces to walk him . If I’m doing housework or gardening I’ll stay in my dog walking clothes . If I’m going out I shower and change into jeans or shorts or a dress depending on the weather . To day I had friends round for coffee and changed into a dress .

I keep all my jeans and tops until downgrading use is not possible (dog walks, hoovering, exercise, gardening), rarely have to buy again.

I wear old trousers and tops at home and newer items, smart casual, for going out unless it's somewhere special, in which case I panic.

Today I'm wearing rather faded cotton trousers and a new long-sleeved cotton t-shirt and I've been cleaning. Normally I wouldn't wear a brand new item to do the cleaning in but bought it last year and I don't like the colour!

I will change for bed.

Indeed, my king, dogs, and Princess daughters!!!

If wearing clean, dry, old, faded clothing, for all mucky home tasks, and changing/washing often during a day is somehow horrible - count me in!

Do you wear separate clothes indoors to outdoors?

No. .
I change if I'm decorating or doing major gardening - I would probably just take my linen dress off for decorating (and paint wearing leggings and my t-shirt).

Always shower, dress, make-up on, hair done, jewellery on before breakfast regardless of my plans for the day. I don't get changed until its bedtime. Unless it's a day for tidying the garden.

Yes, I change when I get home. Usually leggings and a sweatshirt in the winter or a T shirt in the summer. If it's really hot (which has to be at least 30 degrees for my tastes) then I'll slip into shorts and a T shirt.

I shower and wear denim skirt and t- shirt first. do my chores then get changed if going out. When I get back I change back into the skirt and t shirt I started the day in.

Don’t laugh but many years ago I bought two multicoloured tunic dresses in Wallis. They were very fashionable then. Slip on, two pockets, short sleeves and great with leggings. No ironing as they are some synthetic material. I stopped wearing them outside many years ago but I wear them around the house all the time. I call them my hausfrau dresses. 🤣

They are really the equivalent of those tabards that our mothers might have worn in the 60s for doing housework.

It depends what I’m doing. If it includes cleaning or gardening or clearing out the garage etc I wear old old clothes I wouldn’t want anyone to see me in.
If I am going out in the evening which usually means to choir rehearsal, I change into something decent but always layers, as the rehearsal places can get very hot, so a cardigan or fleece rather than a jumper.
On the rare occasion when I am going “out” properly I will get changed anyway into better more appropriate clothes.
I don’t have loungewear and can’t bear being in my dressing gown.

I have clothes for the days when I am not going anywhere, but I tend to make most of my own clothes these days so they fit decently and look OK even if they are "soft" trousers, non-fitted tops and T-shirts. In winter it's sweatshirts and leggings and in summer lighter tops and floaty fabric trousers, unless I am gardening when it's older stuff that won't be ruined by grass and soil stains!

If I am going into town or out anywhere, I have slightly dressier versions of trousers and tops in different fabrics - cotton, crepe or linen rather than jersey, denim or cotton/viscose-jersey.

I very rarely wear dresses. I seldom have, even as a small child when I was much more comfortable in shorts, trousers and T shirts. Only exception was school uniform skirt and blouse which was always discarded as soon as I got home from school!

I have clothes for walking the dogs, which are sometimes the same as the gardening clothes - clean, but comfy. Casual clothes for shopping, smart/casual for lunch or dinner out or if we have people round for a meal. I always divest myself of my ‘smart/casual’ when I come home, and put my cosy clothes on. Obviously, more glam for special occasions. I always add a little blusher & lipstick (just in case! 😉)

Yes, I always wore a uniform so, I always changed out of it when home from work. It's ingrained in me now.
I have yoga pants/joggers and tee-shirt / sweatshirts for the house, but I buy these items just for this purpose. Have some redundant old ones which I use for gardening clothes.
But I do go out in these, sometimes mainly for a quick dash to the local shop for something "urgent"
I also have some "lounge wear" for those days I'm just loafing around or coming in after being out for the day.

I'm the same with my makeup, if I'm just in for the day, I'm make up free.

In the summer I tend to be in dresses or linen trousers with a T shirt and they stay comfortable all day. If I've been out in the winter I'm usually wearing quite thick trousers and jumpers so I change into something more comfortable when I get home.

I dress in the morning for dog walking, usually a polo shirt with chinos (summer) or cords (winter), if it's hot ie over 70 deg, I'll wear shorts. If I'm at home or in the garden then I stay like that. If I go out to shop, art class, see a friend etc I'll change into a smarter top and newer trousers. I always wear make up, not just to cheer me up but also to protect my skin from the sun, wind or rain. I rarely wear a dress or skirt but I might to go out for a meal or meet friends in the evening in a skirt.

No I don’t change (unless I m gardening then I wear joggers or shorts and t shirt) otherwise I wear what I start the day in if I know I m going to be out and about I ll wear better clothes than if m staying in but no I stay in what I decide on for the day

Yes, Germanshepherdsmum, that’s what I mean. I think it’s the elasticated waists, they do nothing for me at all, apart from make me feel like a sack of potatoes. They can look lovely on other people I know, they just aren’t for me.

If by ‘leisure trousers’ you mean joggers/tracksuit bottoms, then no, you are not alone. They are unflattering and, I always think, look sloppy. I have always preferred something more fitted or tailored - which can still be very comfortable.

I have a miniscule wardrobe (capsule when I'm feeling fancy) with a few nice outfits -I only wear them out so I never wear them out if you know what I mean!
House togs for me at home , so no worries about spilling soil, paint, glue etc. Love having a different pinny on the go for various tasks too

Is it only me who feels just wrong in leisure trousers? I’m not overweight, but they really do me no favours, I feel like I look like a cart horse in them as they are so unflattering. Maybe it’s because I’ve always worn jeans, but I want structure on the bottom half - I’ve never felt constrained or uncomfortable in jeans or chinos though, or in a bra for that matter. I don’t think I can be built for leisurewear.

After our darling mum died, my sister and I wept buckets as we sorted out her clothes.

She had so many for best some still with tags on, that we both decided there and then to wear our clothes, not save anything for best (evening/cocktail wear excepted).

If I am showered, clean clothing, moisturiser and mascara, perfume is a must along with my watch and earrings I am ready to face whatever the day brings.

If I am poorly it’s still shower, moisturiser, watch, earrings and I will put on yoga pants and a sweater or t-shirt depending on weather.

I'm fussy about baths and wearing clean clothes . I wear make up and spray on plenty of cologne . I always do my hair in a bun or French pleat .
I hate preparing and eating food if I feel dirty !
I definitely wear more casual clothes at home poviding I don't have visitors !

One of my friends told me that I need to dress up if I go out with her !

Today , I've worn a very nice Monsoon dress to church (people made comments) and at home I've fallen asleep in it on return !
I've overdone it this weekend and I'm feeling tired .
Normally , my home wear is bra less , a comfy T shirt , comfy jumpers and cardigans , tracksuit bottoms , non matching socks and slippers .
I have some old frocks that I wouldn't wear out if it's hot , but they are OK for at home .
If outside I'll wear sturdier footwear for the garden .
There's always something to do in it .
I'll make an effort to wear a pretty Marks and Sparks dress out as the weather warms up .
I must admit to loving exciting colours . I wear every colour now . I didn't used to .

I don't think that I'm alone - my neighbour is either in her pyjamas or gym wear unless she's in her office wearing a dress with low heeled shoes .
We always laugh about our clothes !

I think that people prefer to be comfortable these days - but perhaps wearing comfy clothes comes with age !

I have house trousers and gardening trousers aka old holey jeans.

And proper clothes for going out anywhere even if it's just to Asda.

No velour loungewear as it sounds a bit meh but I've got a lovely fluffy hoodie for nightime.
